We are seeking a front-end web developer to join our team. As a front-end developer, you will be responsible for the user interface of our website. Qualified candidates will be expected to have a working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript and a basic understanding of user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design. Your duties will include turning wireframes and mock-ups into reusable code and building high-quality UI components with scalability in mind. You will also be responsible for implementing new features to our WordPress website, handling the integration of plugins such as WooCommerce and Elementor, and performing routine maintenance and performance optimizations. You will be responsible for shipping code to some of the fastest-growing WooCommerce stores on the planet.
Responsibilities:
- Build world-class WooCommerce shopping experiences: As a seasoned WooCommerce developer, you will be working on custom WooCommerce extensions that meet the highest standards for 8-9 figure eCommerce stores.
- Build integration with a variety of external systems: WooCommerce at scale requires a plethora of integrations with external systems such as WMS/3PL’s, ERP, CRM, Customer Service platforms, Data warehouses, affiliate platforms, feed management systems, returns systems, retailer marketplaces and much more. You will use your expertise working with third-party API’s to lead the planning and development of systems integration projects on time and on budget.
- Test-driven development: You will lead the implementation of a new culture of test-driven development at Xero Shoes.
Qualifications:
- WooCommerce Development Expert: You’ve built your own WooCommerce extensions and can share the code to prove it. You care deeply about test-driven development, code quality, and security.
- Passionate about WordPress: As a WooCommerce-powered business, we naturally use WordPress to power all our web properties. You’ll be deeply invested in all things WordPress and will be very familiar with page builders like Elementor and Gutenberg.
- PHP/MySQL/Javascript Expert: You have a strong, proven track record building WordPress and WooCommerce projects using modern PHP and modern Javascript (we try to avoid jQuery whenever possible).
- Performance Expert: Building WooCommerce extensions that can scale to thousands of concurrent orders per minute is something you’re very comfortable with. You know how to build WooCommerce extensions that avoid expensive MySQL queries. You know how to create custom table indexes that keep query times down to milliseconds. You’re very familiar with code profiling tools like Xdebug and Xhprof. You know how to tune a MySQL database for massive scale.
- Strong frontend engineering skills: While you don’t need to be a world-class designer, you should have strong frontend skills and be able to create frontends that are built to the best possible standards using modern accessible HTML, rock solid CSS and modern lightweight Javascript.
- Systems integration expertise: You will have extensive systems integration experience leveraging third-party APIs and webhooks to seamlessly integrate WooCommerce data flows to our partners’ systems.
- You’re a natural problem solver: You’ve never met a bug you couldn’t figure out how to solve and keep going until you’ve got to the bottom of it.
- Tech-Savvy Communicator: Your excellent communication skills shine through in our work tools like Slack, Zoom, Github, and Asana. You know how to keep a team connected and a project on track.
