Z-Trail sandals

My Z-Trail sandals are very lightweight, but they seem very durable. They are perfect for around camp after a long day of hiking.

Awesome sandal! But...

These are what I was looking for! They fit well and run well, and for someone with a small heel, the adjustable webbing holds it snuggly--more so than the heel strap of other models. My only complaint is that I never actually received the order. A system glitch(?) allowed me to order even though there were none left. So that part of my order was cancelled and I ended up having to purchase a pair from eBay, where someone who had obviously bought about a dozen pairs in each of several sizes was scalping them for 50% profit. I still got a deal, but it's unfortunate that some people take advantage of sales to take advantage of other people. All-in-all, the sandal is worth it. Thanks Xero for such great footwear!

We'll need to wear them longer to see how they hold up so far I'm enjoying them

Amazing Sandals!!!

I can't state enough how comfortable yet minimalist these actually are. In the pictures, they look a lot chunkier than they are IRL. They feel like you're walking on a cloud no matter what surface you're on. After having been used to the Genesis and Clouds, these (after a while) almost feel like you're wearing socks with bottoms. I can't really describe it better than to say that they feel like they're hugging your feet; a nice, calming hug, really. The only con I could think of is that there is kind of a learning curve behind getting the strap in the back on and off. The micro-velcro seems to get hung up on the small loop. However, once you've done it a couple of times, you forget about it pretty quickly. Again, I can't overstate how comfortable and awesome these sandals are. Each different model really has its own personality as it were. The Genesis' really feel primal and grounded, the Clouds feel like your favorite pair of flip flops, and the Z-Trails feel like you could walk up the side of a mountain with no problem and still feel like you were walking on clouds. Love these!!! Also, I love how customizable the straps make these; most shoes don't fit me quite right because, well, my feet aren't the same size as each other. Just another reason to love Xero shoes sandals!

Not suited to my use

I had wear problems in the first week of very light sidewalk use. Eventually, Xero gave me a warranty replacement. While this was negotiated I wore the sandals as their design intended, as trail footwear. I found them unsuitable as trail sandals. The webbing system provided a reliable attachment but at the cost of over restricting circulation to the point of creating inflammation at the base of the second toe’s joint with the metatarsal. The footbed material was flimsy, and immediately wore and frayed on both sandals across their front. The raised rim around the entire perimeter of the footbed scooped up and held dust, grit and pebbles below each foot. Shaking wouldn’t remove the debris, I had to remove the sandals every time to clean them out. These are not my first trail sandals, but they are the only ones that I haven’t found comfortable or even wearable.
