Product Description

“The Mesa Trail II is even better than the original! It feels grippier on different trail surfaces, and is one of the lightest trail runners out there.  – Alex L.

Tens of thousands of Xero Shoes customers loved the Mesa Trail’s combination of lightweight comfort and trail-gripping security.

The Mesa Trail II improves on that with more rugged, durable, and protective welded components on the upper, a breathable mesh, and a moisture-wicking lining that’s ready for wherever you take it.

FEEL CONNECTED TO YOUR WORLD WHEN YOU RUN IN THE MESA TRAIL II

LIGHTWEIGHT COMFORT

You’ll love hitting the trails with this “just right” balance of lightweight comfort and trail-gripping security. At just 7.8oz for a men’s size 9, the Mesa Trail II is even lighter than the original.

The adjustable midfoot and instep straps hug this trail runner snugly to your foot. The thin, durable toe cap and tough sidewall welding work hard to give you added protection.

TRAIL-GRIPPING

Our patented FeelTrue™ sole features 3.5mm lugs for optimal traction. Enjoy how our 3.5mm TrailFoam™ layer evens out the bumps during your trail run.

WE MAKE TRAIL RUNNING SHOES SO COMFORTABLE, YOU’LL FORGET THEY’RE EVEN ON.

If your feet don’t feel as good at the end of the day as they did in the beginning, you haven’t tried the Mesa Trail II.

Life-changing comfort and superior performance come from letting your feet do what’s natural – bend, move, flex and feel.

All Xero Shoes feature a wider, foot-shaped toe box that lets your toes spread and relax, a non-elevated “zero drop” heel for proper posture, low-to-the-ground design for better balance and agility, and a flexible sole that gives you the combination of grip, protection, and ground-feel your brain wants to help you Live Life Feet First.

With it’s grippy, lugged soles, the TerraFlex is built for running and hiking on trails.

That’s not to say you can’t walk, stroll, road run, Crossfit and much more… you can.

Put on your TerraFlex and Live Life Feet First!

This is one of my favorite features in the TerraFlex.

The huarache-sandal inspired heel strap can be used to hold your heel and ankle in place. Pull the straps through the ankle holes in the sole, and then lock them in place with the laces.

The instep straps can be used to secure your instep, which can free up your toes and forefoot to relax and function better. Use the laces to tighten or loosen them to your liking.

The TerraFlex is our first shoe designed for trails. With a rugged, stitched upper, it’s great for running and hiking.

The Mesa Trail is made more specifically for trail running, with a lightweight breathable mesh upper, extra moisture wicking lining, and a protective welded covering for the adjustable midfoot and instep straps.

Both shoes have a grippy, lugged, dual-chevron tread, and a 3mm TrailFoam layer (“hiding” in the outsole) for just-right protection and comfort.

junk

We were sold shoes that had a known insole defect. Turns out, the insole slides out of the shoe while you hike - a first for me. After repeated customer service calls and emails, the problem was admitted to and we were offered new insoles. Then told if that didn't work we could double stick tape the insoles in. If you like paying $150 for shoes then using tape to hold them together, I couldn't recommend these shoes enough.

Awesome shoe

I had previously tried other barefoot shoes, but they hurt my feet, especially my heels. I found this strange since I didn't get that pain walking barefoot, in five fingers, or in slides. I tried these shoes and am pleased that my feet don't hurt and they feel just like walking around barefoot. Shoe quality seems to be very good.

broke with regular wear in less than a year - no response from company

Putting them on, the sole/shoe connection popped a hole. I reached out to the company about the "warranty" and they do not respond. Look elsewhere

Good minimalist trail shoe with a couple issues

These were my first Xero shoes and they are very lightweight and flexible. I'm closing in on around 100 miles for this pair and have been a pretty good intro to minimalist trail running shoes. The Mesa Trail II shoes have worked best for me on shorter runs on trails that are not super rocky or technical. I have done up to 8 miles in them and definitely felt my feet after that run, but I am still building up my foot and ankle strength. While I love the foot volume of these shoes since I usually have to order EE width, the Mesa Trail II does seem to be a bit long for the size (men's 10.5). I have since ordered the Scrambler Low and the HFS II; both fit a bit more true to size. I'm unsure if it's because of the extra length or a separate issue, but I have also had problems with the insoles on the Mesa Trail II sliding in the shoe. I ended up putting a little glue beneath them because I would find the insoles up behind my heels after a run especially if there was any steep downhill. I'm not sure if I would buy another pair of these (or a follow on model) unless the insole issue is fixed, but also because I now have the Scrambler Low shoe and it is quickly becoming my go-to for local trails here in the Tahoe/Truckee area.
