Product Description

You’ll practically fly over your next trail when you’re wearing the Mesa Trail.

We made the Mesa Trail with lightweight, barefoot-friendly, minimalist running in mind. But we know you’ll wear it off-trail too.

You’ll look great when you pair the Mesa Trail with your favorite jeans, and is comfortable enough for all-day wear.

The breathable, mesh upper gets rid of the weight and keeps you cool. The moisture wicking “37.5” lining helps keep you dry. The welded protective covering of the adjustable midfoot and instep straps adds durability. The lugged, dual-chevron tread gives you sure-footed traction. And the “hidden” 3mm TrailFoam™ layer adds the right amount of protection and comfort.

Why you’ll love the Mesa Trail

  • Natural FIT — a wide toe box lets your toes spread, splay, relax, and function naturally.
  • Natural MOTION — the Mesa Trail is flexible enough to let your feet bend, move, and flex the way, well, that feet are supposed to. The “XERO-drop” design (non-elevated heel) allows for proper posture, and it’s built low to the ground for balance and agility.
  • Natural FEEL — the Mesa Trail has a 5mm FeelTrue® rubber sole, with 3.5mm lugs to give you the right combination of protection and grip, plus ground-feedback so your brain knows how to move your body optimally. Also, you can remove the 2mm insole, for a closer-to-barefoot experience that lets you Feel The World®.
  • Light weight — so light, in fact, you could forget you have them on. A men’s 9 is about 7.6 ounces (each).
  • Huarache-inspired design — the adjustable instep and midfoot straps are not just eye-catching but functional, giving you a secure and comfortable fit.
  • Vegan-friendly materials — No animal products are used in the Mesa Trail
  • 5,000 mile sole warranty — like all Xero Shoes, the Mesa Trail is backed with a 24 month manufacturer’s warranty and a 5,000 mile sole warranty.

Caring for your Mesa Trails

To clean your Mesa Trails, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry.
We do not recommend putting the Speed Force in the washing machine or dryer.

The TerraFlex is our first shoe designed for trails. With a rugged, stitched upper, it’s great for running and hiking.

The Mesa Trail is made more specifically for trail running, with a lightweight breathable mesh upper, extra moisture wicking with the “37.5” lining, and a protective welded covering for the adjustable midfoot and instep straps.

Both shoes have a grippy, lugged, dual-chevron tread, and a 3mm TrailFoam layer (“hiding” in the outsole) for just-right protection and comfort.

We do! We’ve sold Xero Shoes to people in more than 85 countries around the world.
We use the US Postal service to send our shipments. The cost to ship will depend on the weight of the package and the delivery speed you select; several options will be provided at checkout.

All domestic shipments come with tracking. Limited tracking is available for some first class international shipments depending on the country, and full tracking is available with all Priority Express and Express International shipments.

Though almost all of our international orders arrive without incident, we strongly advise you to select Priority Express International or Express International if you live in a country with a less reliable postal service, including (but not limited to) India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia. We cannot guarantee delivery of packages shipped using First Class International.

International delivery can take anywhere from 3 days to 8 weeks depending on how long your order spends in customs at the border.

Please note that some countries do require the payment of import duties for international shipments above a certain value. We advise you to know the import regulations of your country and understand that you will be responsible for payment of any duties and fees imposed by your government at the border.

All packages will be marked as merchandise; as a commercial shipper, we are not able to mark a package as a gift (if you’re giving Xero Shoes as a gift, that’s not the same as us sending a gift).
Also, check our Stores page. There may be a Xero Shoes dealer closer to you.

After you purchase a gift certificate, you’ll be able to enter an email address for the recipient.

You could email it to yourself and forward it at a later time if you like.

You can also take the Gift Certificate code and send it to the recipient.

As good as I had hoped

I waited a few months to review so I can be sure. Now that I have put a couple hundred miles on my Mesa Trails, I am a lifelong fan. These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever owned. You’ve ruined conventional hiking shoes for me. I put on a pair of my Merrills the other day, and it does feel like I’m walking on wooden blocks. I will be buying some other Xero's soon!

Great Shoe

I have 3 different pair of Xero Shoes and the Mesa Trail is my favorite. I like the barefoot feel of this shoe. I believe this shoe feels more like I am barefoot vs my other 2. I like all of them so far but this is my favorite.

Great all-around shoe for trail running and light hiking

I tried these shoes out hiking for the first time. With socks, they are a slightly tighter fit than some of the other Xero shoes I have tried. Without socks they fit like a glove. After 5 miles without socks, I had no issues whatsoever. My feet felt secure, even on uneven terrain. While these seem more geared to trail running, they held up for light hiking as well. I would highly recommend adding this to your hiking/trail running arsenal.

Favorite shoes so far!

These are my favorite running shoes since the original Altra Superior. Super comfy, outstanding traction and the toe box is just wide enough. A couple things I would add are a Velcro patch for gaiters and a removable rock guard. Both pretty simple DIY aftermarket mods. I made rock guards out of flexible cutting board for long alpine runs where there is a lot of scree. Maybe Xero will make a waterproof winter version some day?

I love them. They replaced my everyday shoes and the only time I'm forced to change them is for work cause sadly they aren't slip resistant in a restaurant. There was no adjustment period. More of a relief cause now I ask my self. What are shin splints? After a run with my other main brands shoes. Being nearly 300 pounds my legs would be dead. Now all I feel is the natural gains but none of the beat up feeling telling my self all this pain is supposed to be good. Eff the pain. Love these shoes. Make them a way of life.

Greatest shoes ever tested

I've been attracted by the "minimalism" for a few years now (former footballer). I began with the altra zero drop but with 18 mm sole. It felt like being an elephant in the woods. I then wore the merrell glove knit 4 - it has been a revolution. I have used them to the bone but the shoes were not enough tightened and the all feet was lose and the grip was not that good in the forest. I've lost a lot of precision and could not run fast with these otherwise I'd burn my feet. During a few weeks i've been running barefoot until I received my Mesa Trail. I have to say that the barefoot experience was amazing but you have to run with tweezers ^^ I then bought these Mesa Trail Xero Shoes with an only 6 mm sole, and the shoelace + the grip were astonishingly ... perfect. I didn't think I could be able to feel so much the earth but stay precise, light and adhere to the ground so good !! Even if I wore my Merrell Glove everyday for 2 years, I still felt a pain in my calves when I used my Mesa Trail for my interval training. So as always, step by step, in order to tame the feeling.
