Product Description

Get the foot-stimulating benefits of Naboso technology with the summertime freedom of our best-selling Z-Trail sandal

Dr. Emily Splichal created Naboso™ (meaning “barefoot” in Czech) technology. It’s the first-ever small nerve proprioceptive material commercially available and designed for the purpose of improving posture and enhancing movement.

We’ve been proudly offering the Naboso insoles for people who want that beneficial foot stimulation in their shoes.

The Naboso Trail sandal still has a 3-layer sole, like the Z-Trail. We’ve used the Naboso 1.5 material as the footbed:

  • The bottom has our FeelTrue® rubber for great grip and abrasion resistance
  • The middle layer of TrailFoam™ provides an incredible amount of force absorption and protection
  • Then, the top Naboso 1.5 Technology layer gives you stimulation
  • And the sole still maintains enough flexibility to allow for natural movement and ground-feel

More reasons you’ll love your Naboso Trail sandals:

  • Adjustable Z-pattern — get the right tension across your foot, over your foot, and behind your heel.
  • Super lightweight — a Men’s size 9 sandal averages 5.4 ounces each.
  • “Zero-Drop” — your heel isn’t elevated; your feet are anatomically correct.
  • Rust-proof nylon hardware.
  • 100% Vegan-friendly.
  • Ready to wear — the lacing is already done for you. Just slide in your foot and go.
  • 5,000-mile sole warranty! Wear out your Z-Trail soles in under 5,000 miles and we’ll replace them for a nominal cost (details here).

It will depend on you.

Some people will put them on and wear them all day, right away.

Others will find that too stimulating.

Listen to your body and “be your own coach.”

Wear them for 20-30 minutes and see how you feel. If that felt good, add some more time.

If it ever feels like you “did too much,” then rest and do a bit less the next few times you wear them before you increase the amount of time you have them on (sadly, we never know we “did too much” until we, well, do too much 😉 ).

For some people, the Naboso Trail can be too stimulating at first.

No problem. Get a THIN pair of socks and wear those with your Naboso Trail at first.

When you feel ready, try 5-10 minutes without socks.

Over time, by listening to your body, you can build up the amount of time and the activities you do in your Naboso Trail sandals.

In short, yes.

Though it may take you some time to work up to wearing your Naboso Trail sandals all day.

No need to push yourself. Do what’s comfortable (and, over time, what’s comfortable will “expand”).

Great shoes

Getting used to the Naboso pad. The shoe is very comfortable, fits perfectly, and walking in them feels good. I also like the tread; slipping on slick surfaces won't be an issue. Thanks for a great shoe, Alison

Almost as good as barefoot

I don’t like to wear shoes, but society says I need to. I bought these as a compromise. My feet adjusted to the bumpy texture very quickly. I wish the straps at the front of the foot were secured to the sole just a bit further back, to allow my toes to stretch, but other than that, these are a fine compromise for people who have to wear shoes.

Surprising

The slight texture on the insole of the Naboso Trail surprised me. It actually makes me more aware of where my feet are, and how I'm planting them on the ground. I like them.

Sooo very comfortable!

I have several Z sandals and love them. Wear them all. The new Naboso Trail Sport Sandal is a real foot treat. I wear them constantly. I use the trail Z's for my general running and use the Naboso's for all day use. They are already sold out in my size. Bummer. Will wait for them to restock. To give full disclosure... I am an investor only because I love the company, customer service and the two fabulous founders. Keep the shoes coming. I have so many that at age 73, I doubt I will wear all of them out. I just keep buying.

Terrific!

I love the Z-Trail to start with, and now with the Naboso stimulating sole option they are even better.

Semi okay

I am sad the toe strap was put under the materials instead of the normal from the previous trail shoes. It hits just under my big toe and causes some imbalance.

Sorry to hear you found these uncomfortable. These are actually made with the same construction as the Z-Trail.

The potential to fill a real need

I ordered my Naboso TraiI Sandals the moment I finished reading the description on the Xero Shoes site. I have been wearing Xero shoes and sandals almost exclusively for nearly four years. The value of doing so increased recently when I was diagnosed at age 77 with ataxia -- a decline in nerve sensation in my lower legs and feet which compromises my sense of balance, compelling me to walk with a cane. Why this occurred is still unclear, but an initial indication of lupus is being assessed as a potential factor. Whatever the cause, the far greater ground feel of my well-worn Amuri Cloud and Z-Trail sandals is certainly beneficial. But the possible additional benefit of the unique footbed of the Naboso Trail sandals, which are aimed at just the problem I'm having, was too great to pass up. I have only had a few days to assess their value, but first impressions are encouraging. The tiny nodules of the Naboso footbed render them marginally less comfortable than my regular Z-Trails. But that's the point. They increase the feedback from the nerves in the soles of my feet. What I have discovered is that the slight prickling from the areas of the foot generating the most pressure on the ground informs me when I am leaning in a particular direction. My ataxia makes me feel that I am leaning too far forward when I am actually standing normally. This causes me to lean backwards, often to a hazardous degree. Also, the greater confidence the Nabosos gives me in my body position leads me to better posture and an increase in the length of my stride. This is particularly noticeable when I am moving from position to position at the gym, where I cannot use the cane. (Exercise is the best defense against having the ataxia become progressive.) The absence of the heel cup on the Nabosos seems to have no effect on their stabiity. They do seem a little less flexible than my regular Z-Trails, but that may stem from the fact that thy are brand new. I'll amend this review when I've had a few moths of experience with them But so far, so good!

Love These Sandals

I have had my Naboso Trail sandals about a week now and have used them daily. Because of their light weight and the tubular, soft straps They are closer to feeling like being barefoot than any candle I have ever owned. I also just bought a pair of Hana Xero shoes that I really like, but my Trail sandals will be my go to footwear for warm weather.
