NOTE: The Hana has a wider toe box than conventional men's shoes. If your feet are particularly narrow, consider the Women's Cassies. Just make sure to adjust the size by 1.5 (for example, a men's 8 is the same length as a women's 9.5).

Product Description

Get the freedom of our best-selling sandals with an elegant closed-toe style and casual hemp canvas comfort

For years, people have told us, “We LOVE our sandals, but what do we do when it’s cold out, or when I need something with closed-toes for work, or if I need a bit more protection?”

The Hana is the answer.

The Hana is, first and foremost, a casual shoe.  But since it’s built on our high-performance FeelTrue® sandal base, it’ll handle much more.

Check out these reviews from Hana wearers

Why you’ll love the Hana

  • Natural FIT — a wide toe box lets your toes spread and relax. Plus the “XERO-drop” sole (non-elevated heel and low-to-the-ground) allows for proper posture, balance, and agility.
  • Natural FUNCTION — the Hana is flexible enough to let your feet bend, move, and flex the way, well, that feet are supposed to. Plus, they’re so lightweight, you’ll barely know you have them on. A men’s 9 is only 8 ounces each.
  • Natural FEEL — the Hana uses the same 5.5mm FeelTrue® rubber sole from our Z-Trek sandal, so you get great protection while still getting the ground feedback that your feet like. With an optional 3mm insole, the Hana truly lets you Feel The World®.
  • Vegan-friendly materials — the Hana’s upper is hemp canvas, the lining and external accents are microfiber. It washes easily with soap and water.
  • Huarache-inspired design — the heel/instep strap is not only eye-catching but functional.
  • Flexible heel — feel free to step on the heel and wear the Hana as a slide

Plus, Hana now has a new, “Rain-Friendly” upper.

BTW, “Rain-Friendly” isn’t the same as “waterproof.” Fully water-proof shoes have a technical liner, sealed seams, and a much higher price. By pre-treating the Hana with a water-resistant coating, you get an extra layer of protection against light splashing right out of the box.

As with all treatments of this type, it will wear off over time, so we recommend re-treating as you would other water sensitive footwear regularly depending on use.

Sizing, as you’ve probably experienced, is different between brands. You may wear a 9 from one company and then anything between an 8 and 10 from another company.

Luckily, if the size you get is incorrect, we do have a free exchange policy.

The Coalton fits true-to-size for most, and 1/2 size small for others. If you think you’re close to a larger size, go up 1/2 from your usual size.

If you already have a pair of Prio, the Coalton fits similarly. If you have the Hana or Lena, you’ll probably want to go up 1/2 a size because of the difference in performance vs. casual shoes.

If you plan to wear thick socks with the Coalton, you may want to add 1/2 a size to accommodate that.
We have sizing guidelines on this page and our main sizing page but keep in mind that these are “guidelines.” People like their shoes to fit differently — some like their toes right up at the edge, others like to have 1/4″-1/2″ of extra space in front of their toes.

Using the guidelines we give, again, if you’re really close to the next 1/2 size up, we’d recommend starting with that.

Did I mention our exchange policy? 😉

The Daylite Hiker runs small. We recommend choosing 1 full size larger than your usual size.

Shoe sizing, especially online, is not a perfect process. That’s why we have a free exchange policy.
We have sizing instructions at the bottom of the product description for the Hana.
The Hana fits “true-to-size” or a TINY bit small. So you’ll probably be okay selecting your “usual” shoe size. If you think you’re “between sizes,” go up a 1/2 size.

Also, the Hana is wider than conventional shoes. The canvas upper can stretch to become a bit wider.
Keep in mind, though, that because the foot is three-dimensional, any two-dimensional measuring tool, such as a ruler or Brannock device®, can only approximate your true shoe size. Manufacturers model their shoes on different foot shapes, which is why you might be an 8 in one brand and a 9 in another.
Sizing for a shoe is different than a sandal, so if you own one of our sandals, that doesn’t mean you’ll pick the same size in the Hana.

If your foot is really narrow, you may want to check out the Lena.

We have sizing instructions at the bottom of the product description for the Lena.

The Lena fits “true-to-size” or a TINY bit small. So you’ll probably be okay selecting your “usual” shoe size. If you think you’re “between sizes,” go up a 1/2 size.

Also, the Lena is wider than conventional shoes. Some people have experienced stretching in the canvas upper to slightly wider.

If your foot is bigger than the Lena, check out the Hana instead.

Use the templates that are linked on this page (next to where you select the size, and in the product description).

NOTE: Please measure your foot and/or use the templates. Sandal size is very often different than shoe size.

Also, if you have the Z-Trek, you may need a different size in the Z-Trail. The Z-Trek is a TINY bit longer than the Z-Trail, so if your toes come close to the edge in your Z-Treks, you may want to up one size for the Z-Trail.

Use the templates that are linked on this page (next to where you select the size, and in the product description).

There are 54 different foot shapes. And no product will fit everyone perfectly.

If you’re not sure you have the right size, drop us an email with some photos (top, side, back) and we’ll give you our opinion.

If you have the right size but the Z-Trek shape doesn’t quite match your foot… CUT IT! That’s right, you can trim the Z-Trek with a good pair of kitchen scissors. To finish the edge cleanly, try some sandpaper. Don’t cut off too much, too soon, though. Take off just a bit, and then see how you did. Remember, you can’t UN-cut.

If you’re a man with a very narrow foot, you may be better in the “women’s” style. Conversely, women with very wide feet, or over a size 10, should check the sizing for he “men’s” products.

Caring for your Hana Shoes

To clean your Hana shoes, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry. We do not recommend putting the Hana in the washing machine or dryer.

These were my first barefoot shoe. I have been wearing them for two months now and have since bought another pair shoes and sandals. I don't really wear "regular" shoes anymore unless I absolutely have to.

Best shoes, my second pair, larger for winter socks, wearable without laces!

They changed the inner lining (from microfiber to ?polyester?), improved the insole and added padding around the ankle. In one year I almost walked through my first pair, that means they are incredibly durable [I walk many hours a day, carrying weights.]

Best shoes I've ever had.

I can't praise Xero Shoes enough. I had a friend recommend them, lauding them for their style and comfort. I decided to buy a pair, and they overdelivered. These shoes just feel right. I'll be buying another pair!

RR - Be sure to add a full-size, maybe more...

I like the Hana for men. My first pair was a size 10, but they were short. I wore them anyway. My next order was a size 10.5, but they didn’t feel any different than the size 10, so I returned that pair. So…the 3rd time, I ordered size 11.5, and this pair gives me enough room in the toes. Maybe, my feet have gotten longer with age, IDK.
