Love them, comfortable and rugged!

Needed New Boots

A little background: I love my other pairs of Xeros (2x Prio / 2x Sandals) for running and every day walking, but realized that I needed something for the rainy days; especially for those rainy days going to work. Last December, I ordered a pair of Prio at my normal size and they felt tight, I had to wear them without socks for quite a while until the material loosened up. Eventually, I could wear socks with them comfortably. After watching the reviews for the Scrambler Trail Mid WP, I figured that these might not have the same forgiveness, so I opted to buy a half-size larger. I knew that I would be wearing thick socks with these from the beginning. While I waited for them to arrive and walked around in socks in my broken-in Prios, I thought I might have made a mistake. However, after they arrived, I think I made the right decision. Since they are waterproof and built quite ruggedly, the shoes are rather stiff compared to the Prio. Honestly, I feel like I'm cheating on my Prio because my feet feel so protected in these, but they still give some of the ground feel and feedback that I'm used to. These arrived quickly and just in time for a one of those rainy days. I was finally able to donate my previous pair of clunky, thick-soled, constrictive hiking boots. I am happy that I opted for a half-size larger than normal since this did not seem like a material that would loosen up like my Prio shoes have in the past. I have not been disappointed with the feel. Thanks to their rugged build, they have become my every day shoe. Forget about rainy days, these are worn in all conditions. Coworkers have even complimented me on the style and the color. The only issue I have is with some glue that is stuck on the lace. Other than that, probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!

I live in Fresno and it's been storming quite a bit recently and my feet haven't felt a drop or an ache while wearing these shoes. They look cool and are very comfy.

Excellent support, protection, and comfort

Took these out for their first real hike up Evergreen Mountain and they exceeded expectations on all levels. About 6 miles and 1100 feet of elevation gain and my feet and ankles felt well protected throughout. The soles were durable to provide support and protection while also giving phenomenal ground feeling and flexibility. The grip was excellent and while I didn’t get to fully test the waterproof capability, my feet were dry as a bone after slogging through some muddy and snowy sections. The boots have great breathability and my feet also never really felt sweaty at any point. The boots work just fine with micro spikes, although due to the thinner sole the chains were a little loose on the bottom around the midsole, but really provided no issue. However, due to the barefoot feel and more flexible sole, I did feel a little discomfort after wearing the micro spikes for long sections of the downhill half of the loop. Any discomfort was mild and I attribute to the spikes which are just not really designed for a boot with this type of sole. They are compatible just fine though and the thin sole made it a breeze to take the spikes on and off as needed while standing and clip them to the side of my pack. For reference I have been using the HFS II as my all day shoe since October and have been running in the Zelen since around the same time, so definitely consider the normal transition experience to barefoot soles before diving into long excursions. A+ shoe and can’t wait to use again.

Best barefoot boot experience!

New to the barefoot world and these boots were exactly what I was looking for. Great feel, super flexible and comfortable! Perfect boot for someone wanting to transition to the barefoot lifestyle. Enough room for my toes to splay and waterproof is a plus! Great traction and feel during hikes. 100% recommend! Already looking at buying more from Xero.
