Why you’ll love Scrambler Mid II

Scrambler Mid II – Ultralight Technical Hiking Boot

Ever have that feeling at the end of an epic hike where you can’t wait to kick off your heavy, stiff boots?

You’ll never feel that again when you wear the updated Scrambler Mid II. They’re so lightweight and breathable that you might forget to take them off.

The Michelin sole gives an excellent sense of the ground, but with good grip. I now have lightweight hiking shoes that let me feel the trail with an ample toe box and flexible sole.

Like Wearing Mountain Bike Tires on Your Feet

Scrambler Mid II is a collaboration with Michelin, the car and bike tire company.

If you could see inside the thin Michelin fiberlite sole, you’d find an embedded textile layer, giving the sole unparalleled strength, flexibility, and lightness.

Plus, with mud-shedding lugs inspired by Michelin’s high-performance mountain bike tires, you feel the confidence that comes with incredible grip.

Extra Protection with an "Illusion"

The Scrambler Mid II may appear to have a thick sole, leading you to assume that Xero Shoes has sold out.

Far from it. While the boot has a thin layer of our TrailFoam™ to provide extra comfort and protection on rough trails, the thick sole is an illusion created by our design team to make this look like a conventional hiking boot. You get the lightweight flexibility you’ve come to expect from Xero Shoes. Averaging just 11.7 oz per shoe (men’s 9), a pair of the Scrambler Mid II weighs less than just one single boot from most other companies.

Like all our shoes, the Scrambler Mid II is made to give you season after season of outdoor fun and is covered by our 5,000-mile sole warranty.

Comfortable from Trailhead to Summit

Keep your feet protected from dirt, debris, and mud with the Scrambler Mid II’s upgraded abrasion-resistant, vegan-friendly, breathable upper and welded sidewalls.

Stay dry and comfortable with the moisture-wicking lining that still allows airflow even on the hottest days on the trail.

And when the elements give you an extra challenge, attach your favorite gaiter to the included hook and tackle the next peak.

Whether you take it for a day trip or a month-long thru-hike, the Scrambler Mid II is your perfect companion to Live Life Feet First!

30 Days

I purchased these in January, and have worn them daily. I've had zero drop shoes from different brands for hiking, but daily wear was an adjustment. I wore these shoes on pavement, in snow, on frozen surfaces and dirt/grass. The aggressive lugs don't slip, unless it's solid ice. The upper material is good quality, and have not developed any cracks or tears. Laces are standard as most other lightweight hiking shoes. The padding around the ankle is comfortable. lace bindings and hooks are still in good condition, and the sole shows no sign of separation from the upper. In January i don't submerge my feet in water to test them, but have used them in wet weather and on snow covered ground and have been fine. They are very light, with a wide toebox, and are quite comfortable to wear all day. At first my feet were a bit sore from the pronounced lack of cushion found in traditional shoes, but after a few weeks, I've adapted and my feet feel fine, perhaps more so than my traditional boots. I am wearing these in New England with a mid weight wool sock. The sizing was true to my shoe size, and my feet are not cold even as temps drop in the 30's. After thirty days, I'm impressed with the build quality and would buy these again. I will be looking at other styles for spring. Thanks Zero!

Comfortable but uppers could us work

These are very comfortable shoes however the uppers are not wearing well. There are holes at the top of the shoe from rubbing. The material behind the heel pull tab is not strong enough at the stitching at is tearing. And while totally worn through yet the mesh at the toe box where it bends all the time is about to have a hole. I daily wear these shoes but haven’t abused them really. Pictures are of them after 4 months of normal daily use.

good shoes; sizing is correct

really good shoes. if anyone is wondering about sizing, i was coming from the HFS 1, on which the page advised to order half-size up, which i did. this one is true to size, no need for half-size up; so my HFS 1 in 9.5 is the exact same fit and size as a 9 in these (even same length when put side by side). hope this helps.

Overall great!

I like them overall, they feel great. I think sizing could be explained a little better on website. They seem well built. I'm looking forward to seeing how they wear over time.

Better ankle support than previous version

This has been working well for me. I really like the soles and lacing.
