Why you’ll love Scrambler Mid II

Scrambler Mid II – Ultralight Technical Hiking Boot

Ever have that feeling at the end of an epic hike where you can’t wait to kick off your heavy, stiff boots?

You’ll never feel that again when you wear the updated Scrambler Mid II. They’re so lightweight and breathable that you might forget to take them off.

The Michelin sole gives an excellent sense of the ground, but with good grip. I now have lightweight hiking shoes that let me feel the trail with an ample toe box and flexible sole.

Like Wearing Mountain Bike Tires on Your Feet

Scrambler Mid II is a collaboration with Michelin, the car and bike tire company.

If you could see inside the thin Michelin fiberlite sole, you’d find an embedded textile layer, giving the sole unparalleled strength, flexibility, and lightness.

Plus, with mud-shedding lugs inspired by Michelin’s high-performance mountain bike tires, you feel the confidence that comes with incredible grip.

Extra Protection with an "Illusion"

The Scrambler Mid II may appear to have a thick sole, leading you to assume that Xero Shoes has sold out.

Far from it. While the boot has a thin layer of our TrailFoam™ to provide extra comfort and protection on rough trails, the thick sole is an illusion created by our design team to make this look like a conventional hiking boot. You get the lightweight flexibility you’ve come to expect from Xero Shoes. Averaging just 11.7 oz per shoe (men’s 9), a pair of the Scrambler Mid II weighs less than just one single boot from most other companies.

Like all our shoes, the Scrambler Mid II is made to give you season after season of outdoor fun and is covered by our 5,000-mile sole warranty.

Comfortable from Trailhead to Summit

Keep your feet protected from dirt, debris, and mud with the Scrambler Mid II’s upgraded abrasion-resistant, vegan-friendly, breathable upper and welded sidewalls.

Stay dry and comfortable with the moisture-wicking lining that still allows airflow even on the hottest days on the trail.

And when the elements give you an extra challenge, attach your favorite gaiter to the included hook and tackle the next peak.

Whether you take it for a day trip or a month-long thru-hike, the Scrambler Mid II is your perfect companion to Live Life Feet First!

FAQs

We do! We’ve sold Xero Shoes to people in more than 85 countries around the world.
We use the US Postal service to send our shipments. The cost to ship will depend on the weight of the package and the delivery speed you select; several options will be provided at checkout.

All domestic shipments come with tracking. Limited tracking is available for some first class international shipments depending on the country, and full tracking is available with all Priority Express and Express International shipments.

Though almost all of our international orders arrive without incident, we strongly advise you to select Priority Express International or Express International if you live in a country with a less reliable postal service, including (but not limited to) India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia. We cannot guarantee delivery of packages shipped using First Class International.

International delivery can take anywhere from 3 days to 8 weeks depending on how long your order spends in customs at the border.

Please note that some countries do require the payment of import duties for international shipments above a certain value. We advise you to know the import regulations of your country and understand that you will be responsible for payment of any duties and fees imposed by your government at the border.

All packages will be marked as merchandise; as a commercial shipper, we are not able to mark a package as a gift (if you’re giving Xero Shoes as a gift, that’s not the same as us sending a gift).
Also, check our Stores page. There may be a Xero Shoes dealer closer to you.

After you purchase a gift certificate, you’ll be able to enter an email address for the recipient.

You could email it to yourself and forward it at a later time if you like.

You can also take the Gift Certificate code and send it to the recipient.

I wanted to love these

I really wanted to love these boots. The fit is fantastic and I love how light they are. Very comfortable boots. It's hard to find a good non-gortex vented boot these days and I was very happy to find these. My issue is with durability, and I'm also very disappointed in the stickiness of the rubber. I find myself consistently slipping on even dry rocks, something I really wasn't expecting coming most recently from vibram soled boots. It's been less than 4 months, and both boots also have substantial wear on the uppers. It makes no sense to pair a ultra light upper with a such a hard durable rubber. Some of the fabric on the upper is super soft and has almost no abrasion resistance. I would have vastly preferred a less durable but sticky rubber. I know these are not leather hikers that will last years... But I'd be surprised if they'd last a year under regular use. My recommendation to Xero: either go ultralight with super sticky rubber or keep the hard rubber and build a boot that can actually last a couple years.

Xero Shoes

Thank you for sharing your experience with our boots, and we’re glad to hear that the fit and comfort have met your expectations! However, we’re truly sorry to learn about the durability issues and the slipping you've encountered on dry rocks. Your feedback is essential, as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We understand the importance of a balance between weight and performance, especially for outdoor footwear. We appreciate your recommendation and will pass it along to our design team as we continuously strive to enhance our products. Thank you for your support, and we hope to deliver a better experience in the future!

Perfect hiking shoes?

Xero had a great shoe with the first version of the Scrambler but they really dialed it in and elevated it with Scrambler II. It is more durable, with a more dust resistant upper and has held up really well to abrasion during hiking. The rubber and tread offer great grip on all kinds of surfaces and they are very flexible and allow full foot articulation while offering just the right amount of protection. The gaiter hook is so nice. My only small critique is that I wish they were a tad bit wider or had a wide version to accommodate larger feet. Even so, these are still very comfortable and so much better than any other hiking shoe I have ever come across!

Comfortable and well made trail shoes

I waited to make my review as these are my first pair of Xero shoes or any zero drop shoe. I wasn’t sure I liked them at first because they are such a departure from anything I’ve worn before. I did see they were well made, light, and tough. The more I wore them the more I thought they were actually very comfortable. Now when I leave the house they are always the shoes I put on. I can’t seem to tolerate regular narrow toe box shoes anymore. The flex, feel, and low stack height I get with these shoes helps me with on trail stability and surprisingly aren’t bad on rocky terrain. Grip is very good with Michelin soles. Not being waterproof makes them cool in hot weather. Even on wet trails or grass the construction keeps them surprisingly dry. They may have helped reduce my heal pain, they certainly haven’t made it worse. The low drop stretches my calves better and promotes a better toe push off when walking. The only place they aren’t the best choice is long times on concrete, but that may be less of a concern as my feet get stronger. I can fully recommend them to anyone on the fence.

Shoe falls apart

I purchased the Scrambler Mid II and within a week the shoes began to delaminate where the rubber meets the mesh. Xero customer service was able to send me a new pair under warranty. The second pair I received did the same thing, delaminate where the top of the rubber sole meets the mesh. Ultimately, I asked for and received a refund. The shoes themselves felt great, nice wide toe box and very grippy. Customer service was very helpful with my exchange and refund. I just wish the shoes wouldn't have fallen apart.

Comfortable but don't last

Shoes were quite comfortable but I didn't even get 3000miles out of them before the soles wore out.
