The Alpine overall is an amazing boot for the cold. – Jason N.

Enjoy that crisp winter weather in the Alpine – your fully-waterproof, lightweight, minimalist snow boot

Now you don’t need to sacrifice comfort and natural movement when the temperature starts to fall and snow is in the air (and on the ground).

Waterproof, cozy, and warm!

The Alpine keeps the wet out with a fully seam-sealed inner bootie and a water-resistant membrane in the boot’s upper.

The insulated polyester fleece lining keeps those piggies nice and warm. And a heat-reflective insole adds to the winter-friendly comfort. And, yes, you can remove the insole for an even more “barefoot” feeling.

The Alpine has 200g insulation, rated to -25°/-32°C, so they should keep your feet warm no matter where your adventures take you.

Lightweight and grippy

A men’s 9 weighs just 14.9 ounces each, a luggy tread gives you sure-footed traction, and a flexible, non-elevated (zero-drop) sole lets your foot move naturally.

Plus, the Alpine is made from 100% vegan-friendly materials.

Whether you wear the Alpine for a romp in the snow or after you slip off your ski boots, remember…

Caring for your Alpines

To clean your Alpines, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry. We do not recommend putting the Alpine in the washing machine or dryer.

Unlike, say, sleeping bags, there’s no accurate temperature rating system for shoes. How a shoe handles the cold (or, rather, how a person handles the cold in a shoe) depends on factors beyond air temperature, including: ground temperature, humidity, blood circulation in your feet, foot mobility (the more you move, the warmer you might feel) and, of course, the socks you’re wearing (or not wearing, as the case may be).

The short answer is, the Alpine has 200g insulation, rated to -25°/-32°C.

With the seam sealed bootie, heat-reflecting insole, insulated synthetic lining, and lugged sole, we’re giving you a cozy natural movement option for staying warm in the cold.

The answer is YES! The Alpine is a great boot to pair with snowshoes, especially with the zero-drop, FeelTrue® rubber soles for a low center of gravity. Most snowshoes secure the boots with straps that go over the toes, instep, and around the heel, and will work just fine with the Alpine. And with our 200g insulation, rated to -25°/-32°C, and the fully seam-sealed, water-resistant inner bootie, your feet should stay warm and toasty while you’re hiking!

Finally, some winter boots that I can wear!

It is essential that I wear minimalist shoes - if my feet aren't required to fully support themselves, they get weak and I have no end of problems with my arches. I'm also so used to wearing minimalist shoes at this point that if the shoes aren't minimalist enough, I feel like I'm going to fall over. I had pretty much given up on ever being able to wear winter boots again - foot and stability problems on ice are bad news - but I decided to give these a try. The soles are a little thicker, as one would expect from winter boots, and this translates to a little less ground feel, but I feel perfectly stable in them, and my feet are able to move as they should. I haven't had the opportunity to try these in cold weather yet, but they kept my feet toasty warm when I put them on and went for a walk to try them. The soles felt a little stiff at first, but after a 10-15 minute walk they felt much better. I'm looking forward to having warm feet this winter!

Excellent minimal winter boot!

I'm a big fan of Xero shoes...I wear them for training, I wear them when I'm walking my dogs, I wear them hiking. The only thing that was missing was being able to wear them in the winter. I live in the Chicago area and we get SNOW (not as much as we used to but it happens!), so shoes won't work. When it does snow, I'm wearing the big snow boots with giant, thick rubber soles, because that's all I had. Now that Xero has come out with winter boots, I'm set. I tested these in August, so I'll have to go by what I know about the quality of Xero shoes and how these boots feel, wearing them not in snow. They fit really well, they reach fairly high up on the ankle to keep snow out. Being waterproof is important, which they are. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the minimal design in weather that goes beyond what the shoes can comfortably be worn in!

Happy Feet Even In Winter!?

The boot I’ve been waiting for!! It may be Summer but these boots have me SO excited for winter! The construction on these boots are top notch and I expect them to hold up to abuse. I’ve got a long driveway and I’m looking forward to putting these cozy boots on while I get the snowblower going. They’re plenty warm to wear out and about in winter all day and I can’t wait to get them strapped into my snowshoes. The sole reminds me of the Xcursion, though it is stiff, it should allow a great amount of ground feel but while also protecting you from the cold. The boot is waterproof as well and just like the Xcursion I expect it to perform well. I love that the heel straps on this even have little snowflakes, what a nice touch! Living in Southwest Colorado, we get SO much snow. I’ve always had to use Muck boots and Keens to deal with the snow. I truly love my barefoot shoes and get sad every time winter rolls around and I have to stuff my feet into big bulky winter boots, or evern worse…ski boots. The Alpine Boot is a welcome reprieve and I can’t wait to get them into some powder!

Excellent Waterproof, Insulated and Heat-Reflective Boot for All Winters Activities.

Video Review: https://tinyurl.com/xeroshoesalpine The Alpine is a lovely retro-inspired waterproof winter boot with a classic look straight out of the 70s or 80s. With its durable FeelTrue sole, waterproof inner membrane, and extra insulation for warmth and comfort, the Alpine is an excellent choice for minimalist lovers looking for a boot to tackle cold-weather activities, including sledding, snowskating (my personal favorite), and hiking. Its premium metal eyelets are tough and provide excellent fit customization and features a heat-reflective insole that is removable and can assist in giving you the best fit internally; use the insole to tighten the fit inside the boot or take it out for extra volume. I would have liked to see a heat-reflective element built into the inside of the boot so that the insole can be dedicated to fit adjustment, while providing extra heat insulation. The treads on this Feel True sole are aggressive and give this relatively thick boot a total stack height at 10.5mm, which is on the thicker side, but within reason, given the winter aspirations of the boot. Some minimalist winter boots are a little too thin to provide enough insulation from the cold and 10.5mm should be good for a variety of users. It would be nice to have a thinner version of the Alpine in the future with the same waterproof membrane, but a thinner stack height, perhaps in the 6-7mm range, for more advanced minimalist users. Overall, a great boot for all your winter adventures.

Let it snow!

So.. tough to fully review in August, BUT... I did spend time holding my foot in the deep freeze just to get an idea. And wow.. toasty warm inside. The lugs on the sole are aggressive, so I expect them to do well in the snow, and being water proof is awesome! I did find them to be pretty roomy inside, so certainly easy to wear some heavy socks inside for added insulation. Great boot!

Xero Alpine Waterproof Minimalist Winter Boots. I can run in these!! Darn Tootin, great boot.

For my video review on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zK6RRUKTAo&fbclid=IwAR1vGL8PDQBdGEkJoVGnWBYlO5pVE8a3vJuNzQmOJdAjWFNF-v2V003DwO8 While I'll need to wait for much colder weather to truly test the Alpines, initial wearing is promising. Where my ankle bones protrude on the insides of both legs, the material there is softer than on the past hiking boot. I believe this will make them more comfortable for longer times wearing them. Actually looking FORWARD to shoveling snow in these, as well as hiking beautiful snow covered trails. Minimalist footwear done right IMO.

Perfect Minimalist Winter Boot

It's a little hard to fully test a winter boot in summer, but while I was testing them in August without any snow available for a deeper test, I tried them out in two different scenarios. Ice Bucket Challenge. I filled a bucket with ice and stepped into it with the boot on. The beauty of the heat-reflective insole is that it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. While there was some cold that seeped through, my foot was still extremely comfortable. I left it in for 45 minutes and while a lot of ice melted, the inside of the shoe was dry. Snowshoeing. This is always the question I have for minimalist winter boots: can I snowshoe in them? The extent of this test of just strapping a pair of snowshoes on. While it was successful and I didn’t have any issues with the boot slipping out while walking around my yard, it’s fair to say that this test was incomplete. The Alpine I have was a size 11 Mens. It’s fit is loose, but that’s good. When I test this further in the winter, I’ll be pairing it with thicker socks and for snowshoeing it’ll be good to have some extra room in them. The Alpine overall is an amazing boot for the cold.

Mens Alpine Boots

The men’s alpine are a great winter boot. I have only gotten to test these in warm summer environments so I can’t attest to everything about them. I did put them through a series of tests though. I first tested their waterproof function by stepping in some large puddles and they stayed completely dry! My socks didn’t have a drop of water on them, so they easily passed that test. I then hiked a small hike through the woods going up some steep hills and the traction on these boots is phenomenal! Even at steep inclines there was no slipping at all. The insulation on these shoes is amazing! I wore them for just a few minutes around my house and feet were hot and sweaty. Of course, in summer weather this is gross but in winter weather this would be great! These shoes show all the signs of being able to keep your feet extremely warm and ready to go. Overall, I do feel like these boots fit a little big. This could be my own opinion, but I would recommend sizing a half a size down from your normal size. So overall, they pass the waterproof, insulation, and traction tests with ease. I look forward to trying these in colder weather soon and I recommend checking them out for yourself.
