Z-Trek Size Guide – Men

Sandals don’t fit the same way as shoes. And maybe not the same as other sandals. Just because you wear, say, a size 10 Nike Free, that doesn’t mean you’ll wear a size 10 Amuri Z-Trek (and, I’m willing to bet you have other shoes that are 9.5 or 10.5… so are you really a 10 😉 ?)

By following the instructions below, you’ll get the correct fit for your Amuri Z-Trek.

NOTE: Please follow these instructions to avoid ordering problems

3 Simple Steps to the Correct Fit

1) Measure your foot

Measure your feet for huarache barefoot sandals

  • Place a piece of paper against a wall (if you have VERY large feet, use a piece of newspaper.
  • Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall.
  • Make a mark on the paper at the furthest point away from the wall… this will either be just in front of your big toe or second toe
  • Take a ruler and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark you made.

Here’s a video showing the process

2. Check your measurement against the charts, below

This will give you a good idea of your size… but PLEASE follow the next step whenever possible.

3. Verify the correct fit by printing the Amuri size template and comparing it to your foot

If you seem to be “between” sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

Z-Trek - The Lightweight Packable Sport Sandal

4.65 out of 5 based on 156 customer ratings
(156 customer reviews)

$59.99

4.65 out of 5

Great protection, natural movement, secure fit, light weight, zero-drop, and a familiar easy-to-fit style.

That’s what makes the Z-Trek “the ultimate sport sandal.”

Where will these Xeros take you?

Clear

Imagine your favorite sport sandal… you know the ones. They strap onto your foot, they weigh up to a pound — or more — they’re thick as a brick.

Now imagine getting rid of up to 70% of the weight, and almost all of the bulk!

Imagine a sport sandal that feels like you’ve simply glued a protective tire tread to your foot. Your feet are free and airy, they move and bend and flex. They can grip the ground as you hike. They’re as comfortable in the water — if you’re boating or fishing — as they are on land. They slide on and off in seconds, but hold securely no matter what you’re doing.

And they’re affordable, at up to 50% less than your last pair of sport sandals… and have a 5,000 mile sole warranty (because they were inspired by tire sandals 😉 ).

That’s the Amuri Z-Trek.

Reasons you’ll love the Amuri Z-Trek:

  • Super-comfortable webbing
  • Adjustable Z-pattern — get the right tension across your foot, over your foot, and behind your heel.
  • Three color combinations — Coal Black soles with Charcoal, Mocha Earth soles with Coffee Bean webbing, and Slate soles with Patriot Blue webbing.
  • 5.5mm FeelTrue® outsole protects you from unpleasant surfaces without sacrificing ground feel
  • Elegant contour surrounds your foot, but doesn’t add unnecessary support
  • Super light weight — a Men’s size 9 sandal averages 6.9 ounces each
  • “Zero-Drop” — your heel isn’t elevated; your feet are anatomically correct
  • Rust-proof nylon hardware
  • 100% Vegan (like all our products)
  • Ready to wear — the lacing is already done for you. Just slide in your foot and go
  • Heel cup — keeps your heel in place, helps keep out debris, and adds a splash of color
  • 5,000 mile sole warranty! Wear out your Z-Trek soles in under 5,000 miles and we’ll replace them for a nominal cost (details here)

FAQS

What can I do in the Z-Trek?

Pretty much anything you want. Take a walk on the beach, a hike in the woods, hang out with friend, stroll around the camp site, approach a climb, paddle a canoe, run a marathon…

I’m not sure that Z-Trek, or any sandal for that matter, is right for lateral motion sports, like tennis or basketball.

So, use your common sense and HAVE FUN!

What’s the difference between Men’s and Women’s Z-Trek?

The women’s Z-Trek is a bit narrower, and the webbing is 4mm thinner.

So if you have a narrow foot, whether you’re a man or woman, you may want to check the “women’s” sizing templates and see how those work for you. Similarly, if you have a wider foot, regardless of your gender, check out the “men’s” templates.

Can I adjust the Z-Trek lacing across the toes?

You sure can. Just slide the webbing through the slots on the outside of the sole to get the tension you like.

Note: A lot of our customers report that they like the toe strap looser than they thought they would. Experiment and see what you like best.

How do I find the right size?

Use the templates that are linked on this page (next to where you select the size, and in the product description).

NOTE: Please measure your foot and/or use the templates. Sandal size is very often different than shoe size.

What if the Z-Trek is too long for me?

There are 54 different foot shapes. And no product will fit everyone perfectly.

If you’re not sure you have the right size, drop us an email with some photos (top, side, back) and we’ll give you our opinion.

If you have the right size but the Z-Trek shape doesn’t quite match your foot… CUT IT! That’s right, you can trim the Z-Trek with a good pair of kitchen scissors. To finish the edge cleanly, try some sandpaper. Don’t cut off too much, too soon, though. Take off just a bit, and then see how you did. Remember, you can’t UN-cut.

If you’re a man with a very narrow foot, you may be better in the “women’s” style. Conversely, women with very wide feet, or over a size 10, should check the sizing for he “men’s” products.

Do you ship internationally?

We do! We’ve sold Xero Shoes to people in more than 85 countries around the world.

We use the US Postal service to send our shipments. The cost to ship will depend on the weight of the package and the delivery speed you select; several options will be provided at checkout.

All domestic shipments come with tracking.  Limited tracking is available for some first class international shipments depending on the country, and full tracking is available with all Priority Express and Express International shipments.

Though almost all of our international orders arrive without incident, we strongly advise you to select Priority Express International or Express International if you live in a country with a less reliable postal service, including (but not limited to) India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia.  We cannot guarantee delivery of packages shipped using First Class International.

International delivery can take anywhere from 3 days to 8 weeks depending on how long your order spends in customs at the border.

Please note that some countries do require the payment of import duties for international shipments above a certain value. We advise you to know the import regulations of your country and understand that you will be responsible for payment of any duties and fees imposed by your government at the border.

All packages will be marked as merchandise; as a commercial shipper, we are not able to mark a package as a gift (if you’re giving Xero Shoes as a gift, that’s not the same as us sending a gift).

Also, check our Stores page. There may be a Xero Shoes dealer closer to you.

What’s your return policy?

Some people get their Xero Shoes, put them on, and immediately love them. They walk and run painlessly and with the freedom that Xero Shoes provide.

For others, there could be a process of learning how to tie huaraches, and how to walk and run in minimalist footwear. In fact, one of the points of going barefoot/minimalist is to let any discomfort teach you how to move in a different way… a way that will be more efficient and potentially healing. Getting a blister, or feeling some tension in the cord isn’t a sign that there’s a problem with your sandals, but rather they’re working as they should: They’re giving you important feedback about your form (usually overstriding and/or landing too hard). Once your body/mind naturally figures out how to adjust, those issues resolve themselves. If you have any questions, check out Xero Shoes Forum to see if someone else has already answered your question or solved your problem (they probably have). We’re also happy to help, and we’re really good at coaching over the phone, so don’t hesitate to call: 303.447.3100

All that said, please go to Xero Shoes Return Policy page to learn about our 45-day return policy and free exchange policy.

What’s your Warranty?

Please check out this page for the details about our 5,000 mile sole warranty and our manufacturer’s guarantee.

Great for Hiking

I have had these shoes for a few weeks. First off, I thought that they were a little too wide (this is very strange because I have wide feet). They are also a little longer than I expected, but I understand that the sole material can be trimmed. Unfortunately, I don't have much else to say, but I can say that these are great for hiking because they require very little, if any, readjusting! I really like that there is a heel cup; this helps keep rocks out and also helps keep the shoe from swaying under the heel. Overall and so far, I am quite satisfied with these.

Bringing Balance to my Out-of-Shape World

I am not fit. I am not a runner. In fact, I am quite I overweight and out of shape. Since a knee injury a few years ago that facilitated my current status (it didn't cause it, but it certainly didn't help!), I have felt very unbalanced and losing hope about my ability to return to strength and fitness. I found Xero shoes and, Inspired by their approach and warranty, I bought a pair of DIY xero's and they have been good. I have now been wearing the Z-Trek's for a few weeks and I am in love. Its hard to adequately describe... but I simply feel strong and balanced! I feel my feet going through some transition as they are adjusting to the new support... a new way of moving. it's like something is awakening In them and it's effecting everything. I don't mean to sound overly dramatic, but I feel hope again. Thank you, Xero shoes!

PS It's winter here and I'm even wearing them in snow... they do great (they're like part of me... I hate to take them off!).

Happy customer of 5 Xero's, but with a few issues

Has definitely helped keep my Achilles healthy and springy, while raising awareness of some areas of running & walking form/technique that needed improvement. Love the "feel the world" sensation. Also love that the strap criss-cross configuration allows for thick warm socks in the winter.

A few issues, however. First, the holes that anchor the straps keep breaking, even with light use. Once this happened during the warranty period, and once after it ended, so I had to buy a new pair (waited for a sale :) ). Second, I wish the Amuri Z-trek had an option for a 4mm sole, as the 6mm sole doesn't allow as much "feeling the world."

[NOTE from Xero -- Sadly, manufacturing is not a 100% perfect process. The hole breakage you described is actually *extremely* rare... but that's why we have a warranty ;) and we're happy you took advantage of it. BTW, there's not a good way to make a 4mm Z-Trek; it would roll up like a taco on your foot.)

Very Comfortable and Light

These sandals are very comfortable and light. I like the ability to have multiple adjustment points vs. many sandals only adjust in one spot. This allows you to find that perfect fit for whatever your activity. Thanks!

4
Z-Trail and Z-Trek

I purchased Z-Trail to walk the local trails, and I took a new pair to walk the El Camino in Spain. My foot is narrow heel, wide forefoot, and high instep. These sandals worked really well for me with the exception that my foot would slide forward with toes beyond the footbed on downhills. But they were otherwise great. The harness strapping is silky smooth. The sole conforms to the terrain, and I never once slipped in Spain, not on rugged terrain or slippery steep streets.
Recently, I purchased the Z-Trek because of the sale pricing. Surprise! I like them even better. The footbed matches my foot much better and is more stable for me. My foot does not slide forward on downhills. Rated one star less because of minor build issues, but Xero is very quick to respond. I highly recommend Xero sandals. I also have the Hana. They are great minimalist shoes!

FANTASTIC SANDALS

What else is there to say--these sandals are the cat's meow. Super comfortable, light weight and I do not need my orthotics in any of the 3 pair of Xero shoes I have purchased. I have purchased sandals up to $200 and they are now gone. These shoes are Fantastic--oh I said that already.
Well they are Fantastic!!!

Comfortable. Elegant. Perfect

There aren't enough good things to say about these shoes and the company nonetheless. I've been an avid user of Xero Shoes products for almost a year now and I'm so glad I found them. I dislocated my foot a few years ago and have arthritis in that foot so it's hard to get up and move around most mornings but these bad jacksons keep me going with no pain and stronger feet and legs than I've ever had. The only bummer is I have to wear stupid clunky "foot coffins" when I take my Air Force physical fitness tests. These shoes are super easy to size perfectly for yourself when you get them on with just a few tugs. Please please please don't pass these up, your feet will thank you immensely.

I really want to like them, but I've had too many problems

I wore these on an off for about a half year with few complaints. Soon after, though, the buckles that hold the straps tight would start to loosen constantly when I walk. The suede on the side also started to stretch significantly and the d-ring started to twist around consistently.

These were clearly defects with the shoe that shouldn't have happened in normal wear. When I contacted customer service, they said would replace it for $24 plus shipping and handling or to just deal with it myself. I didn't really want to spend another $30 on a sandal that had not been a super pleasant experience with so I just had to do it myself.

I understand that xero was kind of born out of a DIY mindset (I still have my original cherry vibram huaraches) , but this was a fully complete product that I paid for, and frankly it shouldn't be my job to fix their sandals. The rubber where the suede was connected to the sandal ripped about a month after that. Very disappointed in the build quality, and extremely disappointed with the customer service.

[NOTE from Xero -- Unfortunately, manufacturing is not 100% perfect, and it sounds like your D-ring was sewn incorrectly. Suffice it to say, we've had thousands of people put millions of miles on their sandals without a hitch. But, again, nothing is pefect (typo intentional ;) ). I think there's some confusion about how our Customer Happiness Team addressed your situation; I'll look into it.]

Follow up

A month later: I ran (run/jog/walked) over an hour with comfort. They are great for general wearing and I think if I had never had the DIY shoes would be great for running.

[NOTE from Xero -- Take a look at the 2nd video at https://XeroShoes.com/adjust. We get in/out in a snap by leaving the velcro in place (set and forget) and quickly sliding the webbing through the tensioner above your foot. Hope that helps.]

Putting them on is still a (mild!) pain. I have to undo the velcro back strap and hold the "adjust the across the ankle/ top of the foot" strap to get 'em on.

good but not perfect

Background: I am overweight 70 years old. I bought DIY invisible shoes 2+ years ago and LOVE them. I think I am a runner, but certainly not talented. I also run a good bit truly barefoot.

I bought the Z-Treck since the others are literally wearing out. Getting the right fit has been somewhat problematic; however, that is coming around. I also find them difficult to get into. This is an issue, since one thing I do is run until my feet hurt, then put on the footwear.

In the several week trial period, I have actually had my first Achilles tendon pain and heel pain. As I have tried to analyse, I think I am doing a little heel pounding (which seems to be natural for me), but this was never a problem in the DIY Invisibles, so I am not sure. I do notice I have to consciously strike on the balls of my feet in the Z-Trek and that was not much of an issue in the DIY's. I intend to continue to use both the DIY and Z-Trek and will update.

On the good side, my family finds the design of the Z-Trek much more acceptable and they are superior for just walking around due to the thicker sole. The heel edge also helps keep junk out of the shoe.

In summary I like the Z-Trek, but probably will try the Amuri Cloud when the DIY shoes finally just wear out.

Barefoot Superpowers for Feet

I just purchased my second pair of Amuri Z-Treks, and I have to admit it: these things are like my feet's secret superhero identity. I have used the Amuris for everything and anything--managing the transition area for triathlons in all kinds of weather; going into the lake after a swimmer of two; hiking the New Mexico highlands; caving...heck, I even teach high school in them. The combination of comfort and protection makes my feet feel invulnerable. You gotta get you some...

My feet are alive!

These shoes are my first experience with minimalist running shoes and I absolutely love them! Often on warm days I felt like my feet were suffocating in my normal running shoes but when I run with the Amuri Z-Trek Lightweight Sport Sandal they feel so free and are just the right temperature! I have had to ease into them (my arch on my left foot wasn't too happy the first few times) but I found that after enough time you automatically adjust your running form to compensate for the lack of typical shoe support. While I haven't trained in them enough yet to run more than a 5K I still highly recommend them for everyday use, running, and really any activity where you want to feel barefoot but provide some protection for your feet. I look forward to trying out more Xeroshoe products! PS- I had to get the men's sandal due to having wide feet so fellow ladies might want to keep that in mind.

3
Sandal feel apart

I purchased these sandals and had issues from the start. Once I got over 2 miles, the clip that holds the strap in place on top of the foot would loosen up on both feet. I contacted Xero shoes and they felt they had a superior clip so they could send me knew sandals. They only sent one sandal. The clip was no better. The solution was to glue the strap on top of the foot and by pass the clip and just use the strap behind the heel to get in/out of the sandal. I did that, but within 50 miles of running the strap broke apart from the sole of the sandal. I contacted Xero shoes and sent a photo of how the sandal feel apart. The solution was to send them $28 for a replacement. My guess is they would only send me one sandal. See amazon.com for photo

[NOTE from Xero -- To clarify, you're referring to our 2015 Z-Trek. For the few people who had "loosening" issues, there are a few solutions, none of which require gluing the strap. We changed the hardware for 2016 and beyond and we haven't heard of people having the same issue. Secondly, I'm not sure why you thought we would only send one sandal as a replacement, but the cost was our warranty replacement price, even though your sandals were over 1.5 years old and well past the warranty period.]

Unsure at first, but amazing!

I have been wearing chacos for years as well as five fingers. When I first put them on I want sure how I liked them, they were so light! The more I wore them the more I loved them! Now I hate putting on any other shoe. I dread going to work because I have to wear stinking closed toe shoes! They are by far the best out there.

No Blisters!!!

I have three different pair of xero shoes and love them all. I had chacos prior to these but always got blisters on my toes from the webbing. Not a problem with these. I believe the lightness of the shoe with its flexibility greatly decreases the amount the webbing rubs on the toes. Just a great product all around, thanks!

Kayak and canoe preferred water shoe

I've tried numerous manufacturer's water shoe's and sock's over the year's and none of them work as well as the Z-Trek Sport Sandal. I paddle an EPIC sea kayak. I like the thinness to feel the pedals, lack of bulk and no sand traps like others I've bought.. I can go from water to land wearing the same footwear. The company is responsive with excellent customer service. The product is as advertised. An FYI, I wear a 10-10 1/2 street shoe and the best Z-Trek for my foot was a size 9. The strap design keeps them snug to the foot for good comfort. I'm north of 70 and picky with high standards, so for me to praise a product it has to be D*# Good!
