Z-Trek size guide – women

Sandals don’t fit the same way as shoes. And Xero Shoes may not fit the same as other sandals. Just because you wear, say, a size 10 Nike Free, that doesn’t mean you’ll wear a size 10 Amuri Z-Trek (and, I’m willing to bet you have other shoes that are 9.5 or 10.5… so are you really a 10 😉 ?)

By following the instructions below, you’ll get the correct fit for your Amuri Z-Trek.

NOTE: Please follow these instructions to avoid ordering problems

3 Simple Steps to the Correct Fit

1) Measure your foot

Measure your feet for huarache barefoot sandals

  • Place a piece of paper against a wall (if you have VERY large feet, use a piece of newspaper.
  • Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall.
  • Make a mark on the paper at the furthest point away from the wall… this will either be just in front of your big toe or second toe
  • Take a ruler and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark you made.

Here’s a video showing the process

2. Check your measurement against the charts, below

This will give you a good idea of your size… but PLEASE follow the next step whenever possible.

3. Verify the correct fit by printing the Amuri size template and comparing it to your foot

If you seem to be “between” sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

$59.99

4.77 out of 5

Great protection, natural movement, secure fit, light weight, zero-drop, and a familiar easy-to-fit style.

That's what makes the Z-Trek “the ultimate sport sandal.”

Where will these Xeros take you?

Clear

Imagine your favorite sport sandal… you know the ones. They strap onto your foot, they weigh up to a pound — or more — they’re thick as a brick.

Now imagine getting rid of up to 70% of the weight, and almost all of the bulk!

Imagine a sport sandal that feels like you’ve simply glued a protective tire tread to your foot. Your feet are free and airy, they move and bend and flex. They can grip the ground as you hike. They’re as comfortable in the water — if you’re boating or fishing — as they are on land. They slide on and off in seconds, but hold securely no matter what you’re doing.

And they’re affordable, at up to 50% less than your last pair of sport sandals… and have a 5,000 mile sole warranty (because they were inspired by tire sandals 😉 ).

That’s the Amuri Z-Trek.

Reasons you’ll love the Amuri Z-Trek:

  • Super-comfortable webbing
  • Adjustable Z-pattern — get the right tension across your foot, over your foot, and behind your heel.
  • Three color combinations — Coal Black soles with Charcoal, Mocha Earth soles with Coffee Bean webbing, and Slate soles with Hunter Green webbing.
  • 5.5mm FeelTrue® outsole protects you from unpleasant surfaces without sacrificing ground feel
  • Elegant contour surrounds your foot, but doesn’t add unnecessary support
  • Super lightweight — A women’s size 7 sandal averages just over 5 ounces
  • “Zero-Drop” — your heel isn’t elevated; your feet are anatomically correct
  • Rust-proof nylon hardware
  • 100% Vegan (like all our products)
  • Ready to wear — the lacing is already done for you. Just slide in your foot and go
  • Heel cup — keeps your heel in place, helps keep out debris, and adds a splash of color
  • 5,000 mile sole warranty! Wear out your Z-Trek soles in under 5,000 miles and we’ll replace them for a nominal cost(details here)

FAQS

What can I do in the Z-Trek?

Pretty much anything you want. Take a walk on the beach, a hike in the woods, hang out with friend, stroll around the camp site, approach a climb, paddle a canoe, run a marathon…

I’m not sure that Z-Trek, or any sandal for that matter, is right for lateral motion sports, like tennis or basketball.

So, use your common sense and HAVE FUN!

What’s the difference between Men’s and Women’s Z-Trek?

The women’s Z-Trek is a bit narrower, and the webbing is 4mm thinner.

So if you have a narrow foot, whether you’re a man or woman, you may want to check the “women’s” sizing templates and see how those work for you. Similarly, if you have a wider foot, regardless of your gender, check out the “men’s” templates.

Can I adjust the Z-Trek lacing across the toes?

You sure can. Just slide the webbing through the slots on the outside of the sole to get the tension you like.

Note: A lot of our customers report that they like the toe strap looser than they thought they would. Experiment and see what you like best.

How do I find the right size?

Use the templates that are linked on this page (next to where you select the size, and in the product description).

NOTE: Please measure your foot and/or use the templates. Sandal size is very often different than shoe size.

What if the Z-Trek is too long for me?

There are 54 different foot shapes. And no product will fit everyone perfectly.

If you’re not sure you have the right size, drop us an email with some photos (top, side, back) and we’ll give you our opinion.

If you have the right size but the Z-Trek shape doesn’t quite match your foot… CUT IT! That’s right, you can trim the Z-Trek with a good pair of kitchen scissors. To finish the edge cleanly, try some sandpaper. Don’t cut off too much, too soon, though. Take off just a bit, and then see how you did. Remember, you can’t UN-cut.

If you’re a man with a very narrow foot, you may be better in the “women’s” style. Conversely, women with very wide feet, or over a size 10, should check the sizing for he “men’s” products.

Do you ship internationally?

We do! We’ve sold Xero Shoes to people in more than 85 countries around the world.

We use the US Postal service to send our shipments. The cost to ship will depend on the weight of the package and the delivery speed you select; several options will be provided at checkout.

All domestic shipments come with tracking.  Limited tracking is available for some first class international shipments depending on the country, and full tracking is available with all Priority Express and Express International shipments.

Though almost all of our international orders arrive without incident, we strongly advise you to select Priority Express International or Express International if you live in a country with a less reliable postal service, including (but not limited to) India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia.  We cannot guarantee delivery of packages shipped using First Class International.

International delivery can take anywhere from 3 days to 8 weeks depending on how long your order spends in customs at the border.

Please note that some countries do require the payment of import duties for international shipments above a certain value. We advise you to know the import regulations of your country and understand that you will be responsible for payment of any duties and fees imposed by your government at the border.

All packages will be marked as merchandise; as a commercial shipper, we are not able to mark a package as a gift (if you’re giving Xero Shoes as a gift, that’s not the same as us sending a gift).

Also, check our Stores page. There may be a Xero Shoes dealer closer to you.

What’s your return policy?

Some people get their Xero Shoes, put them on, and immediately love them. They walk and run painlessly and with the freedom that Xero Shoes provide.

For others, there could be a process of learning how to tie huaraches, and how to walk and run in minimalist footwear. In fact, one of the points of going barefoot/minimalist is to let any discomfort teach you how to move in a different way… a way that will be more efficient and potentially healing. Getting a blister, or feeling some tension in the cord isn’t a sign that there’s a problem with your sandals, but rather they’re working as they should: They’re giving you important feedback about your form (usually overstriding and/or landing too hard). Once your body/mind naturally figures out how to adjust, those issues resolve themselves. If you have any questions, check out Xero Shoes Forum to see if someone else has already answered your question or solved your problem (they probably have). We’re also happy to help, and we’re really good at coaching over the phone, so don’t hesitate to call: 303.447.3100

All that said, please go to Xero Shoes Return Policy page to learn about our 45-day return policy and free exchange policy.

What’s your Warranty?

Please check out this page for the details about our 5,000 mile sole warranty and our manufacturer’s guarantee.

Just love them

The moment I put on my first pair - the Clouds - they became my favourite shoe. I wear them to work, the beach, bushwalking and more. Also had a pair of the Z-treks which were a bit big. I could wear them ok but they looked a bit odd. I passed them on to my housemate and now have some the right size. Really happy with them. If I'm not barefoot I'm in my Xero sandals all through Summer and beyond. LOVE the texture of stuff I walk over and if I have to be in the city I seek out the raised dots on the footpaths (or at the train stations) and walk over them to get a lovely foot massage!

Xero Shoes are the Best!

From the moment I received my xero shoes I Love them! These are the only pair of shoes that I wear year long! When I wear tennis shoes I always tend to roll my ankle. I have worn xero shoes for 2 years and haven't had that problem anymore! Thank You Xero Shoes!

Not the same style as I had before..

I loved my old Xero sandals, but lost one on the PCT. I ordered a new pair of what I thought was the same style, but they were not. There was one slight difference but a big enough one to make a big difference. The strap is different on this new model. Was the old style discontinued? The new style is hard to get on with the only way of getting on and off using the back Velcro strap, and I wish they had kept the old model where I mostly used the middle strap to unclip the sandal. If they had any back stock of the old style I would prefer those over this new style.

[NOTE from Xero -- actually the strap is exactly the same. The *clip* on the 2016 model is different. To see a way of getting in/out without using the velcro heel strap, see the 2nd video at www.xeroshoes.com/adjust... it takes about the same amount of time -- just a few seconds -- to get in using the top strap.]

Healing footware

I bought a pair about one year ago to wear with Correct Toes (I purchased Correct Toes from elsewhere), a cleverly designed toe spacer invented by sports podiatrist Dr. Ray McClanahan. My right foot was made dysfunctional by wearing clogs. Actually clogs may not be so bad, but I wore them exclusively. Clogs made my right foot weak. It left me with an exaggerated toe spring and also brought into being a hammertoe, the toe next to the big toe on my right foot. Worst of all, I couldn't walk properly; I limped for months. The Amuri Z-Trek Sports Sandal worn with Correct Toes, along with daily foot exercises designed by Dr. McClanahan, helped to heal my right foot.

I wear these wonderful sandals around the house, when I'm out shopping or out for dinner.

I don't find the Amuri Z-Trek particularly comfortable out on the trails around my home in the country. My driveway, for example, has a top layer of shale, and these sandals help me find nerve endings in my feet I never knew existed. So its "ouch, ouch, ouch" when walking down the driveway. Now there's a solution. Soon I'll be ordering the new trail sandals, the Umara Z-Trail; those will work fine along my driveway and on the trails.

I'm very grateful to the folks who designed these sandals.

Love Them

I bought mine on Amazon.com and I've worn them twice now. I'd been looking for a good pair of barefoot shoes for years now. They're the only barefoot shoes that I don't want to throw out. I have always liked walking barefoot, but it's nice to have a little protection and now I do. The shoes have also been a great help after I broke my ankle last year. The stiffness, weakness, and pain in my ankle are slowly going away. Thanks!

Love the shoes

I absolutely love the shoes. I actually did not buy them for barefoot running or anything along those lines. I bought them because all of the other sandals I have tried did not work with my extremely high instep and arch. These are by far the most comfortable shoes I have found. The only reason that I gave them 4 stars were because of a couple of small items. In my research it stated that if the strap was to long it could be trimmed leading me to believe that its was quite long. However with my instep it is just a bit to short. I have it at the maximum and it is just a bit snug. I have tried pulling excess strap from the toe area and it works for a while then it works its way back and is snug against my instep again. the other and perhaps the most bothersome is that the velcro on the back of the sandal. The hook portion is toward the outside instead of on the wrap portion, because of this whenever I cross my heels my foot is constantly scratched and it catches on my pants. It is also already beginning to tear up the strap which I fear will ruin them and cause them to wear out long before the sole do. If the velcro pieces were switched around and the top strap was just a hair longer (maybe 1/2") the shoes would be perfect. I really do love these shoes though.

Great Sandals

I bought these last week, and they arrived within 3 days. Nice work! Bought the green, loved them and the fit. My one problem was that the ties were too short. I barely had enough to put the ankle strap through the buckle. I have skinny ankles, so not sure what's up with that. I emailed, they answered, and my shoes are on their way back to the company, and I have ordered another pair of Umara shoes, which were the first ones I had bought. I was told that the men's size in the Trek, which would fit me in one size smaller, would have longer straps. I may order these again in the future in the men's. I am so impressed with the company, the sandals, and the customer service!
Due to an injury to my foot, I couldn't walk on it for 8 months, and due to the accident, I lost my arch. Spent six years in very structured shoes, and had lots of pain. I saw an ad for Xeros, took a chance, and after wearing these sandals for several months, I'm beginning to rebuild my arch. Hurray for Xero. Thanks so much for the great advice, and for sharing all your knowledge with us.

I LOVE these shoes!!

I wear my Amuri Z-Treks whenever possible and the tan lines on my feet show it! I love how lightweight and packable they are. I always pack them for hiking and usually switch from hiking boots to them after a mile or so. They're great for any outdoor activity - from water sports to music festivals to multi day backpacking trips, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to "Feel the World".

I'm hooked

Love the Z-Treks, I don't leave home without them! The only issue that I have is the velcro on the heel strap seems to weaken with wear, maybe consider a stronger, longer lasting closure.

Xeros for everyone!

Love. Was looking for the barefoot equivalent of my chacos and found it. We're farmers and we do lots of walking on gravel roads and walking around in dirt. These are great for stand up jobs, walking on sharp thistles, and unlike bulkier options they're totally comfortable to harvesting too when I'm kneeling or sitting, they really don't get much soil stuck in the foot beds either and they wash up so nicely and dry quick. Also comfy when wet.

3
best to just go with the originals

I have the original kit (Invisible Shoes) and the ready-made sole (Xeros), in both 4mm and 6mm thickness. I figured I'd try these while they were on sale...but to be honest, I prefer the string-tie originals with the thin soles. The thing about barefoot is your body learns to step lightly and to roll around rocks and stuff instead of pounding ahead. So really all you need is a 4mm sole, and you want the absolute most flex and feel you can get for all the true benefits of barefoot: easier on the joints, better posture, etc. I have used my 4mm soles on trails lined with 3-inch sharp rock gravel, and only after 10 miles do I find it's a bit tiring. So if you're going to do that kind of long distance on persistently sharp surfaces, perhaps these would be worth it. And if you are white-water rafting or something where you need a thicker sole to withstand the water forces. I don't find these to be nearly as good a feel as the 4mm, and they slosh a bit since they don't have the string between the toes. They also "remind" my body to keep my toes together, since they are bounded laterally...but one of the main reasons I went barefoot was because of big toe deviation and a near bunion...so these Amuri Z-Treks don't help that problem. I was always a Chaco wearer, and these have the same webbing design...but once you go Xero, it's hard to go back, even to these Amuri Z-treks. And after the fine lines of the string sandals, the webbing actually looks a bit chunky. So I prefer the true minimalist

Love this brand! Love this shoe!

I read about Xero Shoes in Backpacker Magazine, and since I've always been a barefooter I knew I needed to try these shoes out. I love what these people are doing and how they are educating others about their lifestyle and why it works for them, and how to hopefully make it work for you as well. The decision to purchase was an easy one, and I went with the Trek shoe because I had read that it had the most barefoot feel. My order arrived promptly, within a couple days of having been ordered. They came just in time to test out on a short backpacking trip to some local hot pots and I was so thrilled the whole trip. The shoes feel great and I love being able to feel what's underneath me. My feet have plenty of protection, which is nice because I'm normally hiking barefoot anyway, so now I end up with fewer little cuts and bruises on my feet. I've also received many compliments on my Xeros, as they are still cute though they are super simple (my kind of shoe!). My Xeros have practically been the only shoes I've worn since I bought them and I'm obsessed. I could go on for days about how much I love them! Not to mention, the customer service is outstanding. They even threw some stickers in the mail for us! The company is great, the product is great, the people are great.. Definitely worth supporting! I'd recommend these shoes to anyone and everyone. Thank you Xero, for doing what you do!

Love, love, love!

After wearing the Ventures for about a year and loving them, I really wanted to give the Z-trecks a try. I'm so glad that I did! They are so comfortable and cute (which is always a plus). They feel amazing! They have just enough protection for my feet when I'm hiking, but are thin enough so that I am able to feel what's under my feet. They truly have a barefoot feel and it's wonderful! I will never go hiking in tennis shoes again. They came way faster than expected, which was great and I haven't had any problems so far! I definitely want to get another pair. Thanks Xero Shoes!

So far so good

These are exactly as described---you can roll them up, they adjust several ways, and they seem very durable. I am still adjusting to them and have had trouble on carpet---the front lip of the sandal catches sometimes---they are much better on hard surfaces. I will give them a few months and submit an update on this review. Overall, these sandals are as promised.

Man with narrow feet.

I noted your ads for the new light sandals, and decided to try a pair. Printed my size to ensure they'd fit. Too big, too wide. Tried they women size, it was perfect!! I love them. Just right size. My normal 10.5 man size turned into a women size 10 when following your suggestions. Perfect fit!!!

Not for me

It really feels that you're walking barefoot, but the sole is so thin that allows you to feel every little thing you step on. I walk quite a lot (30-35 miles a day). My feet require cushion which zeroshoes don't offer. They look great. Easily adjust to the feet. Just not for me, unfortunately.

So comfortable!

My Z-Trek shoes arrived a few days ago. I found the straps very easy to adjust to get a good fit. The shoes are remarkably comfortable to wear while walking indoors or out. I'm really pleased with the color and the way they look - great to have a good walking sandal that doesn't look clunky! Janice was a tremendous help to me with my order - excellent customer service.

Laurie

I bought my first DIY kit in 2010 when Xero Shoes was known as Invisible Shoes. I have since added to the collection with another DIY kit, Amuri Ventures, and 2 Z-Treks.
The best is being barefoot, but these come pretty close. I LOVE the way they feel! My favorites are the Z-Treks, as I've gotten used to not having anything between the toes.
My Xero Shoes are exposed to a wide range of situations -- from athletic endeavors to formal events. On a daily basis, I'm either barefoot or in Xero Shoes -- and nothing else.

Reason for purchase:
I decided to buy the Amuri Z-treks when they went on sale for Black Friday 2015. I have been an addict of Xero shoes since early 2013 when I bought my first DIY Contact kit. One of the main reasons I wanted to try the Amuri Z-treks is because the DIY kits require more constant alteration and upkeep than most out of the box shoes, but I love the ability to feel the world. So, at 50% off, how could I resist? I used the fit chart and found I would need to order a size 5. At the time there were very few sizes left in stock, so I was glad they had the green and grey in my size. Less than 3 days later my order arrived, and I was so excited to try them!
Sizing and Customer Service:
Unfortunately the sandals were too small in the strap length, though my feet definitely fit on the footpads. Dismayed, I figured I would have to either return them for good or come up with a DIY solution, which I was willing to do if need be. I was glad to look at the customer service hours and realize they were still open for another 30 minutes, so I called to ask if they had a solution. Janice answered my call and was immensely helpful! She walked to the warehouse, found a size 6 in the same color and discussed my options. I was pleased with her friendliness and helpfulness during the call. I decided to exchange the shoes and she directly emailed me a return shipping label. After I sent the shoes back it took 3 or 4 days for them to be accepted at the store, and then another 2 days for the new size to arrive at my home.
The Sandals:
Compared to how I personally lace my original DIY shoes, these sandals fit much closer to the foot. This results in a problem for me, and since the straps are already adjusted almost to their largest setting I can only expect this to continue. The main problem was when I was walking in sand, and since I took these on my winter beach vacation I experienced it often. Sand gets under your foot and is hard to shake out, even when both sand and my feet were dry. It's not a huge problem, but I found myself either walking barefoot or using my connects for the following beach walks. If you already lace your xeroes to fit close to your sole then this won't be much different I expect. As for walking on concrete, grass, stones or inside, I loved the feel of these Z-treks! The thickness is between the contact and the connect, and it feels a bit stiffer than even the contact, but that could be simply due to the added pieces where the straps connect. Of course, the feel true sole is just like the original DIY on bottom and top, which I absolutely love! I was a bit wary of the heel cup, but it actually was very comfortable and didn't bother me at all. The velcro at the heel is the easiest way for me to open the shoes, and it makes slipping them on and off quite easy. I could not for the life of me detach the hook on top of my foot while I was wearing them (perhaps due to how tight they are), so I had to slide them on and off from the back.
Summary:
I would recommend the Z-treks for anyone who likes to wear zero drop sandals but isn't a fan of either having a toe strap between the toes, or doesn't want to do the work required to assemble the DIY kits and maintain them. I love the look and feel of these shoes, and I believe we can draw more people to minimalist footwear and Xero shoes specifically by wearing these. Other people always comment on my DIY shoes and sound interested in trying them up until they hear I "made them myself." And a few were turned away by the thong strap. Overall, I give these shoes and Xero's service reps 5 stars!

Hello From the Owners

What people are saying about us..

Al Kavadlo

“Xero Shoes are the closest thing to actual barefoot running. Putting them on made me feel like a Native American warrior! They're great for my strength training workouts as well as running"

Al Kavadlo

Tynan

“The shoes basically fade away, and you feel like you’re barefoot all the time. I’ve put hundreds of miles on them, both walking and running, and have never wished for another shoe."

Tynan

Jerrod

“There is nothing I enjoy more than putting on my Xero Shoes and running on trails. My feet have gotten much stronger. And the other day I actually snuck up on a deer!"

Jerrod

Tracy Jones

“These are pretty much the only shoes I wear now. Within a week of putting them on, my plantar fasciitis completely disappeared. I did some arch stretches during this time, but that’s all it took."
