Cloud/Venture Size Guide

Get the right size for your Amuri Cloud and Venture

Barefoot sandals don’t fit the same way as shoes, or other sandals. Just because you wear, say, a size 10 Nike Free, that doesn’t mean you’ll wear a size 10 Amuri Cloud or Venture (and, I’m willing to bet you have other shoes that are 9.5 or 10.5… so are you really a 10 😉 ?)

By following the instructions below, you’ll get the correct fit.

NOTE: Please follow these instructions to get the right fit

3 Simple Steps to the Correct Fit

1) Measure your foot

Measure your feet for huarache barefoot sandals

  • Place a piece of paper against a wall (if you have VERY large feet, use a piece of newspaper.
  • Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall.
  • Make a mark on the paper at the furthest point away from the wall… this will either be just in front of your big toe or second toe
  • Take a ruler and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark you made.

Here’s a video showing the process

2. Check your measurement against the chart, below

This will give you a good idea of your size… but PLEASE follow the next step whenever possible.

3. Verify the correct fit by printing the size template and comparing it to your foot

The freedom of natural barefoot movement, with a whisper of comfort.

Feel the Freedom. Feel the Fun. Feel the World!®

Clear selection

“The most comfortable, versatile barefoot sandal your feet will ever love.”

We’ve taken our ready-to-wear Venture and added a whisper of comfort with a custom-made 3mm Barefoam™ insert in the forefoot.

This makes the Cloud even lighter and more flexible than the Venture… A women’s size 7 is only 3.8 ounces. The Amuri Cloud floats!

Some people think of the Amuri Cloud as their casual Xero Shoe, even though it’s sturdy enough to tackle a 100-mile trail ultramarathon.

Reasons you’ll love the Amuri Cloud:

  • Four fun color combinations — Coal Black soles with Charcoal, Mocha Earth soles with Black, Coal Black soles with Aquarius, and Slate soles with Lemon
  • Barefoam™ forefoot insert gives a hint of comfort, without unnecessary padding
  • Patent-pending lacing system gives you a perfect fit in seconds
  • Flatiron pattern on the Barefoam™ gives you extra grip
  • 6mm FeelTrue® outsole protects you from unpleasant surfaces without sacrificing ground feel
  • Elegant contour surrounds your foot, but doesn’t add unnecessary support
  • Ready to wear — the lacing is already done for you. Just slide in your foot and go
  • Patent-pending tensioning system — find the perfect fit in seconds, and then you can slide your Xeros on and off in a flash
  • Super soft toe post — since the huaraches-inspired lacing goes around your entire foot, you don’t feel the toe post the way you do in a flip flop or other thong sandal
  • Super STRONG toe post — won’t pull through the sole like flip flops do
  • Heel cup — keeps your heel in place, helps keep out debris, and adds a splash of color
  • Nylon Achilles strap with Silicone grip — holds on securely and comfortably
  • Elevated ankle holes — the lace never touches the ground, and so it won’t abrade
  • 5,000 mile warranty! Wear out your Amuri Clouds in under 5,000 miles and we’ll replace them for a nominal cost (details here)

Excited!!!!

I had some issues with hip/knee pain after running a lot in shoes that were bad for my form. After running for 2 months in my sandals I am thrilled!! No pain and I have been enjoying every run more and more. I feel like these sandals have trained me to run with a more natural form.

Work, walking, water and... wunning

Work : I wear these shoes everyday, and they are wonderfully comfortable. We've had a particularly hot summer, so it's lovely to have something so light on the feet. They go well with a skirt, and I have received compliments and plenty of questions about them.
Walking : I've not done any serious hiking, but have walked through woods, on a pebbly beach, on pavements, and nothing poses a problem.
It took me a little while to get the lacing right - be patient if you're having problems. Also, I find that I have to give a little tug on the heel tags from time to time to tighten the heel-strap, otherwise it slides down. Maybe I just have funny heels.
The cloud part (the patterned foamy bit) has compressed into the shape of my feet, but this hasn't altered the comfort at all.
All in all, I love my clouds!
I am lucky enough to have a pair of z-treks as well, which I prefer for...
Water : There is a tendancy for the toe part of the clouds to pull when in the water, which makes me scared that the toe post area will be damaged. I'm sure it is solid enough, but I prefer not to take the risk. The z-treks, on the other hand, cling to the foot like a second skin.
W(R)unning : I tried running in the clouds, but got a blister on the uphill toe when running on sloping pavements. Janice (customer service team) was wonderful, and offered advice (and a length of cord!) for retying. Despite this, I find the z-treks more comfortable for running.

In summary - I love the clouds for everyday wear. They are light and feminine, and sooooo comfortable. When things gets a little more sporty, I switch to the z-treks which are more masculine in appearance, but feel more solid.

Kelly Causey

I have had my Clouds for a little over a month now and they are comfortable but the heel is still something I am still getting used to. Once I got them adjust correctly (which took longer than I had expect with the design) I gave them a shot running. I can get up to about 5 miles in them before the thong area starts getting hot spots and then blisters if I continue on. I am an Ultra runner who typically runs in sandles so I got these in the hopes of making them my next Ultra running shoe. I am still trying to work them up to an ultra distance as of right now. Here in SC you can't run barefoot for long due to heat from roads and paved trails, even some if our non paved trails the sand is just blistering hot. So I love that these give me the protection I need from burns and enough cushion to give me comfort but at the same time gives me a more barefoot feel than what I have been running in. I just wish I could work them up to my preferred distance. Walking around in them at high speeds caused issues with my heels due to a harder heel strike. So if I am walking in them I try not to be in a hurry because it causes pain in my heel as well as blistering with the heel cup. Leisurely walking however they feel and work great. I have had no problems with feel or hot spots in this area. So I can garentee that when I am on my cruise to the Bahamas next month these are going to be my primary shoe.

(NOTE from XERO: Regarding blisters and "hot spots"... take a look at www.xeroshoes.com/blister for info about the cause and cure)

Amazing shoes!

I've had mine for about a month now and I love them! Once I got the right adjustment for them (which they're really easy to adjust), they were super comfortable. I've worn them while running and climbing, and they've also become my favorite work and after-practice shoes. It takes a little while to get used to the heel, but otherwise, they've been amazing from the start!

Not a runner, but love the shoes

I have only had my shoes for a couple weeks, but I wear them around the house and when taking my dog for a walk. I have been a confirmed "Birkenstocks" wearer for about 15 years. I made the adjustment to the Amuri Cloud effortlessly. I still wear my Birks at work and have no ill effects from switching back and forth. I am heading off on vacation and am thrilled that this extra pair of shoes rolls up and takes no room at all.

Everything sandal

I wear these all day long... From chasing grandkids to being in the office to teaching class or running out to the chicken coop or into the garden. They are comfortable no matter what I'm doing. Love them!

Easy Transition

I am not a runner because I have had so much trouble with my right foot and knee. I have always, always had to wear orthotics in my shoes. If I wore regular shoes without them I would find that I was exhausted after having to do any standing or walking around. If I did not wear them I had plantar fascitis and pain in arch area and also right side of my leg. But lately even with the orthotics in my shoes my right foot has been having a lot of pain and the PT cannot figure it out. I seriously doubted that I could wear these sandals without great discomfort during and after walking. Well, I am now very much surprised. Twice this week I have walked 3 miles on pavement in the sandals. I do have some right foot discomfort but NOTHING like I had with orthotics and regular shoes. My arches don't feel like they are collapsing and I don't feel exhausted after wearing them all day. I have no clue how they work but they do. I plan to take them on vacation and leave all the bulky shoes and orthotics at home!

Love these shoes, but...

I bought these shoes about a year ago and have worn them almost every day since.
In my first week, it took me several days to get them adjusted properly. Be patient!
At slow speeds these work very well. My problem with them is, as a short woman, I am usually walking with people with longer legs. When I walk at their pace, making a much stronger heel strike, it makes blisters in the exact shape of the logo. Since I am a barefoot girl, my tough skin rips off many layers deep.
When I called for advice, they recommended filling it in with wood putty. There is too much flex in a barefoot shoe for this to work.
I'm buying more of these shoes, but checking the heel first.

Solid product

I've been using the Amuri Cloud for about a year now and regularly do a 10km run in these once a week (any further than that is too much of a commitment :p). Don't expect to be running long distances in these straight off the bat sans injuries; they require patience in transitioning. There's nothing quite like going barefoot but these are a good alternative especially since the roads we have here are pretty rough and through construction areas. They're easy to take off (when the road condition improves) and easy to put back on (when the road condition worsens). And as I recently experienced, they also work well in a monsoon downpour. Who has time to deal with soggy shoes? My only gripe is the toe post. I've gotten a blister on my right foot at the toe post area from the chaffing. So now I use primapore tape to prevent chaffing and blisters. The Z-trek shoes look great without the toe post but at $60? I'll add it to my Christmas wish list ;)

So I just ran 1.5 miles in my new zero sandals and I am going to make a few notable things here in case some of you are looking to try this. First, getting use to the thong piece between the toes is a lot easier during the run than the walk. But the company has a sandal that is straps with no thong. Second, why only 1.5 miles (which went faster than normal)? Because I found that I am using different muscles to move forward than with a regular shoe. Because of the weight of a normal cushioned running shoe I pull my leg up then out and the forward motion is more from the hip and lower back than my calf and leg (creating bursitis in my hips). Not having that weight helped me to use my legs more and not rely on my hips and back to do the work, which means different muscles which leads to needing to lower my miles this week and build those muscles up. And no my hip did not bother me this run as it had started to do again this past week. So I def say that these shoes are worth the time to transition into and I look forward to running some major miles in them and even buying the z-trek shoe for when I don't want that rub between the toes. This is a great shoe and I am so happy to have found something that gives me the natural feel and motion of running barefoot while having some protection from articles left on the ground like glass and small sharp rocks.
