Cloud/Venture Size Guide

Get the right size for your Amuri Cloud and Venture

Barefoot sandals don’t fit the same way as shoes, or other sandals. Just because you wear, say, a size 10 Nike Free, that doesn’t mean you’ll wear a size 10 Amuri Cloud or Venture (and, I’m willing to bet you have other shoes that are 9.5 or 10.5… so are you really a 10 😉 ?)

By following the instructions below, you’ll get the correct fit.

NOTE: Please follow these instructions to get the right fit

3 Simple Steps to the Correct Fit

1) Measure your foot

Measure your feet for huarache barefoot sandals

  • Place a piece of paper against a wall (if you have VERY large feet, use a piece of newspaper.
  • Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall.
  • Make a mark on the paper at the furthest point away from the wall… this will either be just in front of your big toe or second toe
  • Take a ruler and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark you made.

Here’s a video showing the process

2. Check your measurement against the chart, below

This will give you a good idea of your size… but PLEASE follow the next step whenever possible.

3. Verify the correct fit by printing the size template and comparing it to your foot

The freedom of natural barefoot movement, with a whisper of comfort.

Feel the Freedom. Feel the Fun. Feel the World!®

Clear

“The most comfortable, versatile barefoot sandal your feet will ever love.”

We’ve taken our ready-to-wear Venture and added a whisper of comfort with a custom-made 3mm Barefoam™ insert in the forefoot.

This makes the Cloud even lighter and more flexible than the Venture… A women’s size 7 is only 3.8 ounces. The Amuri Cloud floats!

Some people think of the Amuri Cloud as their casual Xero Shoe, even though it’s sturdy enough to tackle a 100-mile trail ultramarathon.

Reasons you’ll love the Amuri Cloud:

  • Four fun color combinations — Coal Black soles with Charcoal, Mocha Earth soles with Black, Coal Black soles with Aquarius, and Slate soles with Lemon
  • Barefoam™ forefoot insert gives a hint of comfort, without unnecessary padding
  • Patent-pending lacing system gives you a perfect fit in seconds
  • Flatiron pattern on the Barefoam™ gives you extra grip
  • 6mm FeelTrue® outsole protects you from unpleasant surfaces without sacrificing ground feel
  • Elegant contour surrounds your foot, but doesn’t add unnecessary support
  • Ready to wear — the lacing is already done for you. Just slide in your foot and go
  • Patent-pending tensioning system — find the perfect fit in seconds, and then you can slide your Xeros on and off in a flash
  • Super soft toe post — since the huaraches-inspired lacing goes around your entire foot, you don’t feel the toe post the way you do in a flip flop or other thong sandal
  • Super STRONG toe post — won’t pull through the sole like flip flops do
  • Heel cup — keeps your heel in place, helps keep out debris, and adds a splash of color
  • Nylon Achilles strap with Silicone grip — holds on securely and comfortably
  • Elevated ankle holes — the lace never touches the ground, and so it won’t abrade
  • 5,000 mile sole warranty! Wear out your Amuri Clouds in under 5,000 miles and we’ll replace them for a nominal cost (details here)

CARING for your Clouds

Because of the BareFoam™ in the Clouds, these need a bit of extra attention. Do not leave your Clouds in hot cars or exposed to intense direct sun. This could cause the BareFoam™ to deform and is not covered by our warranty.

FAQS

What’s the difference between the Amuri Venture and Cloud and your Kits?

The Amuri Venture and Cloud are ready-to-wear barefoot-inspired sandals. For our kits you, well, have to make them 😉

Both products use our exclusive FeelTrue® rubber, the only outsole product made specifically for barefoot style sandals.

The Venture’s sole is 5.5mm thick, compared to either 4mm or 6mm on the DIY kits. The Cloud has 3mm of Barefoam™ in the forefoot for a bit of extra comfort and lighter weight (the Clouds float!)

The Cloud and Venture have a soft toe post, so there’s no knot under your foot.

The Cloud and Venture have a simpler lacing system with a patent-pending adjustment technology that let’s you get a perfect fit in just seconds.

The ankle holes on the Cloud and Venture are raised off the ground so the lace can’t abrade.

The heel cup helps keep stuff from getting under your foot (not perfectly, of course), and keeps your heel in place.

Can I change the laces on the Cloud and Venture?

We don’t currently have a way to let you select different laces when you order, but if you’re adventurous, you can buy extra laces and swap them out with the ones that come with your Clouds and Ventures. (It’s actually not that hard to do.)

I don’t like things between my toes!

Okay, that’s not a question, but I’ll talk about it anyway 😉

Most people who say this are thinking of flip-flops. Xero Shoes are very different than flip-flops, and people who don’t like things between their toes are usually fine in Xero Shoes.

What’s the difference?

  • First, because of the heel strap, Xero Shoes stay on your foot comfortably, no matter what you’re doing with them. You don’t need to scrunch your toes to hold them on (like you do with a flip-flop).
  • Second, also because of the heel strap, you don’t need to jam your foot into the toe strap with every step (like a flip-flop)
  • Third… Speaking of the toe strap, it’s a soft, flexible bit of lace, not a hard rubber door stopper (like a you-know-what)
  • And finally, you can adjust the tension of the toe strap, unlike a… Well, you get the idea.

Can you really run in these things?

Tens of thousands of people all around the world of all ages use Xero Shoes for running… and walking, hiking, biking, camping, going to the beach, hitting the gym, doing yoga, even running 100-mile ultramarathons. Our former Customer Service Manager, Bill, ran from his house to the bus, from the bus stop to the office, back home, and then around with his dogs… then he does his fun runs on the weekend! He put about 120 miles on his Xero Shoes each week!

Will running in huaraches (or barefoot) cure my running problems and injuries?

If you have a headache because you’re hitting yourself on the head with a hammer, wearing gloves won’t stop the pain.

In other words, it’s not just a question of taking off your shoes and experiencing magical healing powers.

Running barefoot, or in running sandals, gives you a lot of feedback about your running form. In short, if it hurts, you’re probably doing something wrong.

If you are willing to listen to that feedback and use it as an opportunity to change the way you run, to adjust your stride, to find a way to move that doesn’t hurt, then there’s a good chance any problems you had that were caused by bad form sure might clear up.

In other words, barefoot and minimalist running could show you how to let go of the hammer.

Being barefoot, or in huaraches, is an opportunity to find a cure, not a cure in and of itself.

Check out this post to read about people who, instead, thought barefoot running was about putting on gloves.

How long will the Xero Shoes huaraches last?

Frankly, we don’t know. We’ve had people put over 10,000 miles on a pair… and they’re still going!

Like any shoe, how long they last depends on your running style. If you use good barefoot technique and are light and easy, without scraping your foot on the ground, you’ll enjoy them for quite a while.

Besides, considering how inexpensive they are compared to big, padded, running shoes, we expect that you’ll be saving a fortune by using Xero Shoes.

And, more importantly, Xero Shoes come with a 5,000 mile sole warranty!

I don’t like things in between my toes!

  • And finally, you can adjust the tension of the lacing, unlike a… Well, you get the idea.

Why don’t you use leather or hemp laces?

You can use almost anything for lacing huaraches.

In my testing, though, I found some issues with hemp and leather that I didn’t like:

  • Both leather and hemp tended to stretch, especially when moist
  • Both leather and hemp tighten and stiffen when they dry
  • Both leather and hemp wear out faster than our polyester laces
  • Leather is much more expensive
  • Most leather laces are rectangular, and the edges can dig into your skin
  • Leather, isn’t vegan (for those who care about that)
  • Leather and hemp don’t give you as many fun color choices

The 100% polyester cord we use is strong, light, and doesn’t stretch or tighten, especially when wet.

Also, I prefer the “slip-on” method of tying which works best with a round lace, rather than a flat one (like leather).

Needless to say, you can replace the lace we send you with whatever you like.

Do you ship internationally?

We do! We’ve sold Xero Shoes to people in more than 85 countries around the world.

We use the US Postal service to send our shipments. The cost to ship will depend on the weight of the package and the delivery speed you select; several options will be provided at checkout.

All domestic shipments come with tracking.  Limited tracking is available for some first class international shipments depending on the country, and full tracking is available with all Priority Express and Express International shipments.

Though almost all of our international orders arrive without incident, we strongly advise you to select Priority Express International or Express International if you live in a country with a less reliable postal service, including (but not limited to) India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia.  We cannot guarantee delivery of packages shipped using First Class International.

International delivery can take anywhere from 3 days to 8 weeks depending on how long your order spends in customs at the border.

Please note that some countries do require the payment of import duties for international shipments above a certain value. We advise you to know the import regulations of your country and understand that you will be responsible for payment of any duties and fees imposed by your government at the border.

All packages will be marked as merchandise; as a commercial shipper, we are not able to mark a package as a gift (if you’re giving Xero Shoes as a gift, that’s not the same as us sending a gift).

Also, check our Stores page. There may be a Xero Shoes dealer closer to you.

What’s your return policy?

Some people get their Xero Shoes, put them on, and immediately love them. They walk and run painlessly and with the freedom that Xero Shoes provide.

For others, there could be a process of learning how to tie huaraches, and how to walk and run in minimalist footwear. In fact, one of the points of going barefoot/minimalist is to let any discomfort teach you how to move in a different way… a way that will be more efficient and potentially healing. Getting a blister, or feeling some tension in the cord isn’t a sign that there’s a problem with your sandals, but rather they’re working as they should: They’re giving you important feedback about your form (usually overstriding and/or landing too hard). Once your body/mind naturally figures out how to adjust, those issues resolve themselves. If you have any questions, check out Xero Shoes Forum to see if someone else has already answered your question or solved your problem (they probably have). We’re also happy to help, and we’re really good at coaching over the phone, so don’t hesitate to call: 303.447.3100

All that said, please go to Xero Shoes Return Policy page to learn about our 45-day return policy and free exchange policy.

Best I've found in my barefoot shoe journey

I moved to "barefoot" minimal style shoes four years ago. I have had two pairs of vibram five fingers, two pairs of jing jing vivo barefoots, a pair of footskins boots. These are my favorite getting the fit just right is easy and after dusty hikes I can just spray them down. I actually got to try them on in a store on the shores of Alabama. They're my go to shoe whenever I can get away with it.

Love these sandals

Ive always had issues with my legs in regular sandals and every shoe out there. Barefoot was my only relief but i never knew they actually made shoes that mimicked going barefoot. Not to mention everyone would always tell me to get a better shoe whenever the issue of my legs and feet hurting would come up. Since ive worn these the pressure in the back of knees has subsided and my feet NEVER hurt. Being barefoot is wonderfull. I even wore these with a fancy dress for a wedding and they worked! I think i was the most comfortable woman there! The day before that i went hiking and wading in a creek with them! Never lost them in the water and i was able to grip the wet rocks better. Thank you for making such a wonderfull product!

Foots down the best minimalist/barefoot shoes

I have been looking for something with a total barefoot feel but with a little extra protection for my feet from the nastiness outside the home. With how people are here, we can't truly keep the earth litter free of broken glass, cig butts and etc on the pavements. So after some long searching, and research. I decided to buy these shoes.

I already walk around barefoot most of my time, and when it's cold and snowy I wear my Merrells. Well I'm a sandal person for most of the year, I get those looks like I'm crazy for wearing my flip flops in obscure weather. I got tired of not having flip flops with a zero drop, and that extra cushioning that comes with standard sandals really messes with my gait. I can feel it, I end up slouching a little more, my hips get uneven and then my whole body suffers. Hence walking barefoot keeps me sane and pain free.

I also work in a nursing home in which foot protection is required, and I brought myself a pair of shoes with a memory foam thing thinking it would help my feet feel better from wearing my Nike frees which are like 6 years old.. Well that was a mistake. My whole back and my feet suffered. So I went back to my Nikes and that just ruined everything. The uneven wear in cushioning of the soles threw me off even more. So then I try to go more barefoot as I can when I'm not at work, and when I go do my normal walks, errand runs I'm stuck with that cushioned flip flops. It's a cycle and it sucks. I hurt badly.

Well thanks to Xeroshoes, my shoes came in and I wore them immediately. I immediately fell in love, and felt a whole body shift. My back doesn't hurt anymore, and more importantly my feet are in heaven. Yeah I got a couple weird looks in the little Podunk town I live in, but hey it fits my whole hippy minimalist persona! Haha. I love it. It looks like I'll have to give in to wearing my Merrells for work so I keep that barefoot gait going. Maybe Xeroshoes will come out with a lovely version that I can wear a work with total foot protection.. (Hint hint Xeroshoes!)

Because my body is feeling better, I'm actually gonna start running again, and these are the shoes I will be using! I do anticipate another order just for running maybe.. :)

Overall these shoes are amazing. I would totally suggest them to everyone.

2
Not suitable for rugged landscapes

I was hoping to feel the world thought my feet getting these, while they're comfortable and fit great, they are not holding up well and I've only taken out 3 times (a total of 25km).

These would be best suited for packed trail or low mileage pavement, or a golf course. Anything longer than 3" deep grass the toe flips down, and promotes a heel strike in my running form as I try to correct the toe flipping down. The toe strap nearly popped through last time when I was in some wet grass. I got caught on a gravel road and having to go 1.5km either on it or the deep grass ditch I opted for the the gravel which was incredibly painful. Leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth, sorry xero. I run off road 90% of the time bush-whacking a lot. Think I'll stick with my closed-toe barefoot shoes.

[NOTE from Xero -- while we've had many people successfully use the Clouds on the surfaces that you describe, for most people who are looking for more protection we recommend the Umara Z-Trail]

Other than sizing, just about perfect

The sandals themselves are awesome - somehow feeling everything and yet nothing is hard or hot. It is four stars because even after using the sizing guide, my heels were nowhere near the heel caps (I cut them off entirely, not just filed them down). For those of us with narrow feet it's great to be able to cut the extra width, but the way the cloud is inserted makes it look sloppy. Fortunately I love being barefoot so I don't particularly care how they look!

5
Best Shoes EVER!

I was so excited to learn about the barefoot running movement (via Born to Run). Since I was a young child I have disliked wearing closed toed shoes and have worn flip flops 90% of the time even doing activities such as hiking..to varying degrees of success I might add. I did my research and it seemed like Xero Shoes would be best barefoot shoes for me.
I have had them a little less than a week now and I have ran nearly 40 miles of trail in them ( the longest run being 18 miles three days after receiving them), hiked over rocks, crossed rivers, and worn them in the pool to swim (they do float!). I only have a tiny bit of soreness in my calves, no other problems whatsoever. I watched a lot of videos on how to transition into running barefoot and taking it slow and I fully intended to take that approach, but once I got them on I just couldn't go back to my Nike's! It has been HOT here lately and its really amazing how being able to run with your feet exposed keeps your whole body cooler. Also an unexpected bonus- I now for the first time ever actually enjoy sprinting up hill! (never in my life would I have expected to say that) Having that much flexibility in your foot really lets you use your whole body the way nature intend.
The transition from running in my fully supportive Nike running shoes to these was shockingly easy. I have ran over gravel, dirt, grass, river rock, asphalt, wood chips...didn't have a problem with any of it. I will say I do not yet enjoy fresh gravel, it doesn't hurt per se but it just feel like too much sensation and I don't like it. Hopefully that will change as my feet acclimate. The only real issue is that I have a very stubbornly persistent plantar wart on the ball of my foot that causes pain if I land directly on a rock in that spot, but that is a foot problem not a shoe problem.

I purchased them in the blue/black combo and I really think they are cute and wear them with skirts and dresses when I am not being active.

Only cons I can think of: the beautiful blue on the bottom of the sole gets dirty pretty easily on dusty trails and is a bit hard to clean all the way off after a long run grinding the dirt it in.
Sometimes running down hill the backs start to slip down, I haven't ever had them slide fully off though and also I have narrow ankles.
This is pretty inconsequential, but on hard surfaces they are a bit loud!(maybe it's just how I run?) *SLAP*SLAP*SLAP*SLAP*- This is also is kind of a bonus though because a least slower moving traffic like dog walkers can hear me coming up behind them lol.

Also my fiancé is loving his Z-Trails for hiking and fishing. Overall these are really amazing shoes, the best I've ever purchased. I'm recommending them to anyone that will listen! Absolutely will buy more pairs in the future

Comfortable For Any Day Anywhere

I LOVE these shoes. I was a little hesitant that I might just "think" Iiked them because I had seen so many good reviews on YouTube by minimalist backpackers, but I really do like them. They are thinner than my super thin flip flops I normally adopt during the summer and they are MUCH better. The back strap was easy to adjust and isn't notifiable when wearing them and because of it I don't have to grip the bottom of the shoes with my feet when I try running...because I always did try running in my flip flops. I really appreciate the grips on both the inside and the outside of the shoes. I can flip the back strap up quick and use them as simple flip flops when I take the dog out in the backyard. When I first started wearing them the toe divider/strap thing was rather thick feeling and not very comfortable, I was even worried I might get a blister from it. But with a little adjusting of the straps the toe discomfort eased up and after 2 or 3 days I adjusted to its larger width and I haven't felt any discomfort since. They are just so much more comfortable than wearing tennis shoes all the time. I've used them to run to my hubby across the parking lot, walking the dog around town, to the beach and the pier, dangling my feet in the water off a dock, a little bit of outdoor and indoor wear; and after 2 weeks I know I really love them. My favorite part of wearing them has been when it's showering out and the grass is wet and my feet get all wet but still stay comfy in my Xero Shoes. They definitely feel closer to barefoot than any other shoes I've worn and I find myself stomping around in them just like when I stomped around barefoot as a kid!
*I've also experienced considerably less pain or swelling on my feet after a long day standing or walking in my Xero Shoes compared to my typical tennis shoes, which are Marell brand.

Got my clouds last week...to say I'm pleased would be an understatement! I'm still trying to get the perfect fit on my right foot, but the left is perfect. I think my feet are just enough different in size that I can't queue in the perfect fit. However, I've still been running and have been SO pleased. I run several miles each day and have been suffering from shin/ankle pain. After several runs in these, I haven't had ANY pain!! Happy girl here. Thanks, Xeroshoes!

A love story

I love my first xero shoes! By now I couldn't use them often, because this time it's raining in switzerland..
But I'm so excited of the warm summer days ;)

The shape and size fits my feet so well and I just can recommend them!

Gonna order another pair for my other love ;)

My first barefoot sandal

I'm really pleased! I can feel my feet getting stronger and my balance improving. I'm sure I'll be back for more colors and models. Great concept! I'm not a runner, but do a lot of walking.

Love the look, still working on my stride

I got these about a week ago. Wore these for a long walk and ended up with a huge blood blister near the left toe post, and a second huge blister on my outer right heel, which I know is 100% due to my foot strike and causing too much horizontal friction as I walk. These are as comfortable as they can possibly be, but they do require some skill to use them without blisters. I've run in my old homemade Invisible Shoes for many pain-free miles, so I know it's an issue of readjusting myself to proper form.
I love the soft footbed material, great traction, and improved lacing system of these, and I bought 4 beads for each shoe to dress them up. Got several compliments on the cuteness of these shoes already. I'm planning on these being my "travel shoes" to wear with skirts this summer, and also doubling as my walking/running shoes, so I'm determined to re-learn how to walk and run without blisters. I'm not 100% convinced about the necessity of the heel cup, but I'm withholding judgment until I see how they perform over time. I've read that some people grind theirs off, but I'm going to leave it there until I know for sure if it has any benefit. I went with the Coal Black/Aquarius color combo so that the heel cup was less obvious (the other color combos have a heel cup that's a different color from the sole.)

Better than barefoot!

I've been reading a lot lately about the alignment benefits of barefoot walking/not wearing even a small heel so I ordered a pair of amuri clouds. I will not be using them to run - a spinal injury led to a THR - but will wear these at home, both inside and when I'm doing yard work to add a layer of protection for my feet and at the same time getting the benefits of going barefoot. I've only been wearing the sandals for a couple of hours but after spending a few minutes getting them adjusted to my feet, have had total comfort! Your printable templates made it so easy to order with confidence and know that the size would be perfect.

Foot Protection!

I was surprised how much thinner these sandals are in comparison to my Vibram Five Fingers. It has much more ground feel which is nice. I still prefer running barefoot as I run much more softly barefoot; however, since I run on the bluffs of a beach, there is often a lot of broken glass and I have walked home with bloody toes a couple of times. So, these sandals are the closest thing to running barefoot that I have experienced while also having some protection. I have only run in them a couple of times and they rub in-between the toes but I think that will change with time. Also, the straps around the heel slip off and go underneath the shoe so that I am running on the straps. If I were to buy another pair, I would go for the Z Trek.

I love these sandals! I've been looking for something truly minimalist for awhile, and these are the real deal. I've been wearing them in the house mostly, (I bought them just as below freezing temps finally arrived here in the Northeast) but I can't wait to take them out on the trails when it warms up a bit. I'm still playing around with the best fit on the laces. I apparently have really narrow ankles, as there's a lot of lace left over once I tighten them comfortably. But I've just wrapped the extra lace around the side ankle strap a couple of times and been good to go. I may cut and knot the laces instead if the wrapping gets old. These things are beyond comfortable, and my feet finally can move like they're meant to. These things are awesome!

Awesome shoes and excellent customer service

My husband and I each got a pair in prevision for our round the world trip where we will be hiking mountains, swimming and walking around the cities for hours. I personally prefer to be barefoot whenever I can so these shoes were right up my alley. I started wearing them around the house this week and there are times when I forgot they were there! It does take some time to get used to adjusting the strap, be patient. After a few hours, the straps seem to adjust themselves and they are incredibly comfortable.
I’m a long distance runner myself and although I did not purchase them for this exact purpose, I will certainly be trying them out on my next run. Can’t wait!
I also want to add that the customer service has been impeccable. They offer a quick turnaround to answer any questions (48 hours in my case) and even accepted to discount us the shoes when they went on sale a week after we ordered them. Overall, we've had a wonderful experience!

Happy Feet

After an all-downhill half marathon left both of my big toenails black, a friend recommended that I try Xero Shoes. My Clouds arrived just in time for a San Francisco vacation, during which I wore my new kicks over many happy, hilly, and extremely varied miles each of four days. My toes were happy. I was shocked by how much more comfortable my knees, hips, and back, too, felt after switching from regular shoes to my Xeros! I enjoyed the way that the articulated soles allowed me to feel the differences between sidewalk, sand, and boardwalk. Also, several people admired the unique appearance of my sandals. I'm a fan.

Both of Us

I've had my Xeros for about 4 months and just bought my wife a pair last week, she is wearing them everywhere. They are by far the most comfortable sandals we have owned. I have been running barefoot for about 9 months and use my Xeros when I am in the woods or on gravel. A simple wash off and I wear them out wherever I go. I have steered a few people to the Xero web site already as they get a lot of compliments and are easy to recommend. Great company, great sandals.

Excited!!!!

I had some issues with hip/knee pain after running a lot in shoes that were bad for my form. After running for 2 months in my sandals I am thrilled!! No pain and I have been enjoying every run more and more. I feel like these sandals have trained me to run with a more natural form.
